I am OK at gears of war, but put on some chasing cars by snow patrol and WHAM i ang a god no-scoping and chainsawing my way through entier teams. what? so snow patrol is some of the softest music out there i cand play gore filled bloddy gears of war? bah who care what you think.

ITS NOT WEIRD!
yeah it is
Actually, I find soft rock very good for playing action games. It calms you down, so you can make better decisions, and react quicker. It's not quite as strange as it might sound.
yeah it is
Think about it, people amped on metal are extremely trigger happy and aiming at the center of the body(usually) people listening to calmer music and not working with the added adrenaline and take time to aim can usually pick off said amped gamer with about 2 well placed shots
also the best song to listen to while using a sniper is "I can see for Miles" - The Who
just doing this so the quote boxes get insane. also hes got it not having that super jittery rush makes me a god a snyping. but i dont shoot everything that moves so i get shotguned alot
and the tower of quote rises!
I started the "Quote tower and i shal;l make it better more boxier and well mainly just bigger. And As for the sniping goes...who is easier to pick of someone who is thinking tacticfully about every one of their movements or a tweakin on metala etaphine guy shooting everything and running around in circles
alright so snipers have the advantage there, not that it makes much of a difference because the ampedup gorilla will be taken down soon enough...especially if they are running in circles...set paths are never a good defense against a sniper
snff, i'm so proud, look any my little comment at the top.
you know hoe people run in even though you can tell there going to die? thats because your not playing. i call it 3rd sight and being calm has the posssablity to give you this. no button mashing no panic just calm clean killin' .....thats sounds worse than it is.
grow my pretty hahahahahahahah! man i need to get out more :)
yes, yes you do.
We should name it...i am thinking jerry after famous composer jerry goldsmith...or bob.

to be honest, i do find that lisening to msic of the opposite pace of the game calms me down, but for some reason, i can't find any music to listen to while playing cod4 unless its the jaws theme when ur stabbing someone in the back or "shanking them." but especially "slow ride" by foghat for fast paced racing games

Me and my friends have a thing called the "holy Diver montage" If we would be losing a game then we turn on Holy Diver and for some reason win the game.

Its magic I tell ya.

I took the Bioshock soundtrack (y'know, like "How Much is That Doggy In The Window?") and played it over the Conan demo.

It was amazing, listening to Noel Coward while cleaving people from nape to knave is one of the most sinisterly dark things you can do.

hmm someone should stop this tower....

oh well

anyways i find if you listen to rock or fast paced music you tend to react faster. Iswear there is no better feeling than being pinned down by blind fire on gears of war (or halo but its not really blindfire) jumping over cover and popping off some heads breaking a stalemate and then getting viciously blown to pieces while the foo fighters the pretender is on full blast. But then when i dont have music on i end up praying someone else feels like the suicide run.

peace out :)

On a racing game, if I'm doing poorly, I turn all music and sound effects off. Dead silence promotes the clarity I need, and that run will undoubtedly be my best time.

Any game featuring J-Pop, I immediately shut off the music. I don't care what else I listen to. Just. Not. J-Pop.

i think bob is nice, do you like been called bob....oh yes he does!

wouldent it be nice if games had music in mulitplayer?
just put it as the option you get when you open menu if you want diffrent music, START, A (or X if you have a PS3 and the Wii as Z and stuff so i'm not going there.) it would be easy.

Um... yea. Most of the time music actually messes me up and lose concentration. But sometimes it does help me play and get in the mood for gaming.

Depends on the game, mostly instrumentals. Final Fantasy has the annoying battle song so I have my own FF-Battle play list of relevant songs. I try to avoid LAN parties because I'm not in favor of Simon & Garfunkel while playing Unreal Tournament, or just some random guy shouting while another guy hammers on random repetitive frets like a 3 armed freak on crack while playing SupCom.

Yeah, depends on the game. When it's a case of the music being integral to the atmosphere and hearing characters talk, then I won't listen to music.

But I listen to music when replaying Tomb Raider, because I know what happens, and Lego Star Wars, because nobody talks. And of course fighting games are fine to listen to music whilst playing.

Yeah, i like Drum and bass for racing games and any music will do for football games, the commentary is normally abysmal.

I just find that i get right in the zone and can take corners so much faster with some DnB banging out :)

Yeah i tend to on occasion and i do generally play better, point in case for actual ingame music, Burnout revenge, whenever 'Asian dub foundation - Flyover' comes on then anyone racing me may as well go make a cuppa cause that race is in the bag for me, the pace and everything just fits purfectly but some of the slower or more screechy tunes and i'll be crashing out left right and centre, it's just finding something that puts you in the right groove.

I play almost all game online with the sound off and no music on (sometimes I play with the TV on in the background). If I'm playing a campaign where I need voices I'll keep the sound on but very low. For games like CS and CoD4 I play almost exclusively with the sound completely off or as low as they can be without being off. I find it more relaxing to have absolutely nothing pumping into my ears and in the past when I've tried to listen to music while playing I've come away with brain-meltingly bad headaches so I gave up.

I have ulterior motives, though, because I use sound like leg weights. If I'm on par with someone and they start giving me crap I'll pop in the headset and my gaming abilities subsequently skyrocket so I can put the punk down.
Bring it on Lee-san ^^

When I play Team Fortress 2, I usually play as a spy. I like to have the Goldfinger (instrumental) theme playing. Or the Dr. No James Bond theme. Something like that.

But does it help me play? It gets me into the mindset, but I'm not sure if that helps me any, really. It's pretty easy for some music to hurt and be distracting though.

Well i have been Playing doom 3 (what i like it) with one ear phone in the computer and the other ear phone set to megadeth and I am kicking ass. I think games should allow you to plug an ipod into the game and play those song in the game.

Bob it is.
