Okay, Skyrim is just 8 days way now, but I already pre-ordered (first time I've done so, mind) the game about a month ago, and I can't stop thinking about it, I don't think I've ever been this excited about a game before.

To those here who've pre-ordered before, does it excite you more or less when you pre-order a game? knowing for fact you're gonna get your hands on it?

Usually when I pre-order a game I forget all about it until very close to release date. I guess that could count as being less excited, but it also means I'll probably enjoy the game more.

No, but my excitement greatly influences whether I pre-order or not...

I get more excited when I pre-order.

My wife considered disowning me when I pre-ordered Skyrim, I went and bought an advent calendar (yes, it's that time of year folks, our supermarkets get Christmas stuff in arouns September, just incase you forget that Christmas is 3 bloody months away ... well, 1 month now but you get the point).

Anywayyyyy

I got an advent calendar to munch chocolates for every day that passes in countdown to next Friday.

It comes to something when most of my kids are more mature than I am about this kind of thing.

No, not really.

I only pre-order when (a) I know I'm going to buy the game anyway and (b) there is some kind of benefit involved (lower price, in-gane bonuses, that sort of thing.)

Excitement doesn't really come into it, one way or the other.

I think it does for me. I've only ever pre-ordered two games (L.A. Noire and Infamous 2) and both I bought on release day. I'm doing the same for Saints Row 3 tomorrow.

Uh... no. My enthusiasm for the game affects whether or not I pre-order it.

It doesn't affect my excitement; If I am very excited for a game, then I preorder, getting bonuses, and the ones that I get very excited about are both really cool looking, and made by a reputable company.

So far, it has always worked out. That, of course, does not mean no one has problems; I'll probably get suckered one day, anyways.

I get less excited if I pre-order. If I pre-order I know it's going to be good, if I'm not convinced I spend time looking at game footage and stuff to see if I want to buy it which sometimes gets me more hyped.

When MvC first came out I decided to wait for it to come down in price. Then UMvC was announced so I went to look if it was worth the extra money. I regret doing that because now I'm impatient.
