You raise a good point there. Historically, whenever white people have gone to Africa with conflicting goals, the black people have suffered.Guerrilla1 said:i love the way capcom has shown this game, not racist, just historical.

That brings up a good point, actually. What the hell was her accent? I know it's supposed to be South African (or at least, I think), but I have a friend in my town from South Africa, and he sounds nothing like that.nilcypher said:Yep, when I heard Sheva speak in that horrendous 'African' accent I was won over. Have you never heard the phrase 'token black character'?
Again, that isn't why it's seen as racist. It's seen that way largely because, halfway through the game, you're fighting loincloth and war paint wearing, spear throwing black zombies in mud hut villages. Again: Racist? No. In poor taste? Yeah, it seems that way.Fatalis67 said:Its Africa and there are black people.
THERE ARE BLACK PEOPLE!?!?!?!
THIS GAME IS RACIST!!!!
Seriously, whoever says that needs to grow a fucking pair.
That accent was a woman from Brooklyn trying to do an African accent. Stone's accent was much more believeable, being a pretty good approximation of a Nigerian accent, but the fact the character was called 'Josh Stone' makes me wonder if it wasn't a hasty re-skin of a character that was originally white.orannis62 said:That brings up a good point, actually. Anyway, I don't feel that Resi 5 is racist, because I feel there must be malicious intent for that. There were things, however, like the loinclothed, war paint wearing, spear throwing zombies in mud hut villages, that were in somewhat poor taste, however. I really don't feel that was necessary.
That part just made me feel special because my name is Joshnilcypher said:That accent was a woman from Brooklyn trying to do an African accent.
