The PSP has been around for a while now, and it has proven to be the only hand held console to stay in the game with Nintendo. That's quite a feat since Nintendo has dominated that market since the fall of Sega's Game Gear.
However, Sony seems to hate it since it has been giving it less and less attention. Not many good games go to the online catalog very often, no new commercials for any PSP games or for the system itself are on TV. They promised a brilliant campaign for the PSP, but so far there has been 2 commercials starring the little kid from Role Models. E3 was a long time ago. It has also been forever since I saw a commercial for the PSP myself.
There have been some firmware updates, but no significant new features (other than to get rid of the Patapon 2 exploit).
So why exactly did Sony release that great, amazing, godlike system, if they won't back it up like Nintendo does with the DS? Nintendo releases new types of the DS, commercials for it, and games.
Here's the question then if you didn't feel like reading my giant rant there
