Does The Escapist seem slow to you?

But it's not just Wednesdays, and I did ask you about the java errors...

The java errors are from the Gaikai ad unit that lets you play game demos. Errors are usually from having an older version of Java runtime environment installed. And Thermis. Give the Escapist more servers Thermis! More than 10, ideally 200

We actually have less then 10 servers right now, and only 5 of them are the front end web/database servers. Due to rack space issues, we'll most likely be trying to replace some of our older servers with beefier ones before we actually add more total servers. I'm trying to get more servers as soon as we have more money.

Bake sale anyone?
Or a fund raising car wash with the LRR crew?

It took me about 5 minutes to get on this page here just now, so yeah, I feel you. But I think it's multiple problems on my end today; I can't get YouTube to play without buffering out the ass today either. But this site has been slowing down a lot every couple of days for a week or two now, especially when I'm trying to get to the ponychat.

Yea, me as well. It's very annoying and I usually do a lot of posting and browsing around. Not to mention it happens a lot. One thing I know it's just The Escapist because I have other tabs that even busier websites can be attended to easily and faster while this website takes so long to load, and sometimes doesn't even load at all. Hope it's solved, because seriously it's really bugging me.

Same here. Sometimes, a page will load instantly and sometimes it takes 5 minutes to get to a page. And it is only this site. It can be very annoying.
EDIT: Apparently, the server disappeared when I tried to refresh this. Sigh....

Given the fact that LulzSec appears to be on a suicidal charge of the light brigade I'd blame it on the little buggers.
They have DDOSed the site before and today they are suffering from members being arrested and wanted to take their anger out... well here is what I have to say.

I have never had a problem around this time on Wednesdays as to the point where the site is inaccessible.
Also off topic discussion at one point disappeared... all other forums were unaffected but off topic was... and it was where I posed the pic above... clearly they don't like people like us discussing them out in the open as that was the cause of their attack last week.

Yup, happens a lot. Sometimes you get that "our furry animals are working too hard" message as well.

It happens on more than one computer in more than one location with more than one ISP on state of art computers.

Clearly The Escapist has gone "on the cheap" when it comes to hosting hardware.

Obviously the recession has made it online, and we're going to revert to 90's era .gif wallpapers as a cost saving measure.

Honestly, if they can't make their servers better, it might make some sense to stop releasing ZP on Wednesdays and instead do it on a random weekday or even just make it either Tue/Wed/Th. That should help keep the traffic from spiking so damned much, at least.

Yeah, it seems to flow as well as a frozen lake. And here I was thinking it was just my connection. Loading this page alone took four or five tries. heck, this post might be a bit shy to step onto the list of responses and convince my browser to disobey me.

Yeah, it was so bad today that my ISP just didn't accept the address as valid. It was worse than the time my DNS forgot about The Escapist and I couldn't get on for the day, till I found a DNS that included The Escapist.

I think it happens when new videos are uploaded and people rush to watch them and when the servers are given routine maintenance. It isn't particularly bad, it just takes a bit longer to load is all. Videos still load in less than 5 seconds.

it's Wednesday, blame ZP and FD, tomorrow it will be slow at 5pm (BST) because it's EC. Kinda got used to it tbh! Yeah they could go down the upgrade route but its frequent but brief spike and we are all to polite to complain about it, or maybe that's my stiff upper lip coming into play here

Yeh, it's being a bit slow for me the past few days. Most of the videos on the site would only half load and then just today I tried to click on the last page of a thread but it didn't seem to budge. I started typing a reply anyway then halfway through the page decided it was time to load. I lost my expertly crafted reply of course...

It's been like this for me for the past several months. Pages don't load completely, constant 400 errors, and a slew of other problems that prevent me from posting. I have no idea if it's my internet, Chrome, Firefox, the site, or what.
