I have to admit, I did not read op. I have read the last page and the first page, sorry middle pagers.

I can't speak for "the community" as you would put it. I can only speak for myself, now I live in a suburban city which might alter my opinion a bit. I am a lesbian who has no problems with transgendered. I roomed with a transwoman and have a friend who has recently decided to transition. I have never thought twice of not supporting them. Even when transitioning, you my become gay or a lesbian. It does not mean you will become straight. I have actually had harder times with bisexuals. It might be the ones that have entered my life to this point, but they have not made a great impression. I have met a few who have dated a male friend of mine, and while in a monogamous relationship openly look at women with intent. If you decide you are in an open relationship, then please. Another situation that I have run into is I liked this woman, she admitted she liked me back. She had dated only women until she met this one man. She could not decide who she liked more so she messed around with both of us, and yes I learned my lesson. After a couple months she ditched us both and moved on. These are just a few stories of stuff I have run into.

As far as it being LGBT, I can only believe the T is in there because it was strange and sex based. We know now that it is not an orientation but a state in which your body does not represent your mind. Should they be in the LGBT, not if the definition of LGBT is different orientations, it should be more LGBA since I believe that Asexual is another orientation that I believe 1% (correct me if I'm wrong) identify as. If we say LGBT as a community of acceptance, then use LGBTQ and understand that you are accepted if you are different in any way, shape or form; may you be gay or lesbian, asexual or pansexual, transgendered or intersex. Sexual Orientation or gender identity.

no its not (unless your talking about a intersex person), because there is nothing physically wrong with them, its in their head, which is not the case for people born with a cleft lip.
It's a physical wiring issue.

"It's in the head" is incredibly bigoted and about as dismissive as assuming homosexuality is a lifestyle choice.

most gays I know have more of an issue with bisexuals then Transgender people.
One girl who is gay said that most bisexuals are just homosexuals who want to appear in the heterosexual world. which is bullshit.

Sorry, you're either born a man or born a woman, theres no inbetween at all. Call me whatever you want, I was raised that way and I will die that way. I have no problem with lesbians or gays. Although I would disown my kid if he was gay/lesbian/bi.. Bisexuals however are appearing everywhere and it seem to be the cool thing to do, so those people are posers.

Human Deforms, aka trannies, don't belong.

How can you claim to have no problem with gays or lesbians then say you would disown for being gay/lesbian/bisexual? Clearly you find some serious fault if it warrants throwing away your own children like a used tampon.

I have no problem with them and I don't want any in my family. So if my kid at age 14 starts liking boys, well, I can easily get rid of him.
Then it sounds like you have a problem with it...

Would you criticize someone for trying to overcome a birth defect? For trying to cure their blindness, or deafness, triumph over being crippled, or mentally addled, or anything of the sort, because they "didn't accept themselves"? I'm willing to doubt it.
You can't compare getting a sex change with having a physical deformity (like cleft lip) or physical disability (like being born blind).
I can compare whatever I like, thanks, but ignoring that, I didn't compare getting a sex change to a physical deformity. I compared gender dysphoria to it. Don't twist peoples' words for the sake of an argument; it's bad form.

And don't get me wrong, they're only as comparable as it goes that it can interfere and have a crippling effect on one's life. It's a mental issue that for many people must be overcome or addressed, elsewise some can suffer greatly, or worse, make those around them suffer. The major difference is that it's not something the rest of the world is aware of at a glance, but our mental well-being is integral to our overall well-being.
This topic is about how the LGB view the T and we view them as different. Sorry if you're crazy, but honestly its wrong to compare someone who was never given sight to someone who was given a body to be proud of and refusing it. Someone with a cleft lip, I understand someone wanting to change that because for some it's very hard to BREATHE, again, not comparable with a fully functioning body that you choose to mutilate.

So LGBT escapist (and anybody else that can add to this discussion), is there a rift between the LGB and T community?
Sometimes- however, there can also be a rift between Bisexuals (et. al.) and Gays, Lesbians and Transexuals. I have heard both straight people and gay people say "Bisexuality doesn't exist" and "You have to pick a side". There are ignorant people everywhere, not just in the straight community.

Erm, then I'm a poser in addition to not existing.

Also, how does this make sense?

Props for the new slur, I guess? Haven't heard that one before.

In conclusion: either you are a successful troll or a very odd individual.

Hello, now, speaking as a man who likes his dick and is attracted exclusively to women I can't say I know much about these groups.

I can however, tell you that people hate being grouped with those that are different from them. I will also note That while the L,G, and B are synonyms the T isn't.

Also of note is that on the average persons weirdness scale, L,G and B are a lot lower on that scale than "T".
