My dad lost his job, which was a bummer, but it didn't affect me directly since I don't live with them anymore. Fewer Christmas presents this year, though. As for me, the only effect it's had is that I'm afraid to quit my crappy job cause I'm afraid I won't find a new one.

What county do you live in, wouldyoukindly99?

Also being a Floridian and being poor both my parents lost their jobs due to the recession. I hardly buy games anymore : (.

E:Also the recession is probably going to make it much harder to get to college (I'm still in HS) unless I can get a scholarship.

Such is life.

In fact, when the recession hit I was probably one of the few who actually prospered. Long story short, I came into a lot of money though an annuity.

I'm 15, so no not really. However my dad lost his job as an editor for a magazine earlier this year, but he seems to be back on his feet.
Oh, and I actually just got a part time job a few days ago, and my first day is today. Just thought that was a little on topic.

Although, and I may be rambling, I live in Australia, and the recession seems to be almost over.

Port St. Lucie, it's on the south-eastern coast by Ft. Pierce.

My parents were both realtors, my dad couldn't make enough money doing that so he quit and went to work at a hotel, but my step mom still works as a realtor.

I feel your pain, fellow Floridian. I am stranded in a desolate county where I can't even get a part-time burger-flipping job. Second great depression here we come! Woot woot!
So, Alachua County?

No, Port St. Lucie. (See above post)

Port St. Lucie was the second fastest growing city in the entire country next to Las Vegas, the real estate market was booming and new buildings were popping-up everywhere...then the recession hit. All that growth and success, gone.

Not really, things have always been relatively tight but since my parents are both holding jobs that are relatively recession proof so we are doing better than most.

Meth. Lots and lots of meth.
You seem like an unfunny version of MaxTheReaper
Well, seeing as how Max was just recently perma-banned we ARE going to need a replacement, and if that replacement's gonna be fluffybacon, I say why not.

Oh, and OT, no, the recession has not affected me in any way, shape, or form.

Definitely.

My dad lost his job a while ago and hasn't been able to find anything since, while my moms workplace has been laying people off and recently reduced hours, so it's definitely a tough time.

Being a student with a huge course load I only work during the summer but wasn't able to find anything this time and spent the whole season unemployed.

Now OSAP (an organization that loans money to students in Canada) is screwing me and I fear I won't be able to afford tuition for my last year and graduate.

Not getting enough hours at work, makes it tough to get the money to do much at the moment. Makes me wish xmas was further away.
