It was a pretty good episode, actually. I laughed when the Doctor was mistaken for the Prime Minister of Belgium.

Huh? An entire show? Naaah...

I'm half way through season 1 and I just can't get into it yet. I've heard it's the best show ever. Since I love dramas like Six Feet Under, The Sopranos, and Deadwood, I thought I'd love it.

But I'm having a hard time getting into it. Surely if this is the best show of all time I should be into it by now. I was into it by this point with all the other shows....
The second half of Season 1 *really* picks up, so if you stay with it, you'll be richly rewarded. A lot of Season 1 in the first half is introducing the wide range of characters, the various sublots and the procedural details of the investigation/drug trade, so you're not the first person to note that it drags at times and can be hard to get into.

But again, if you stick with it, you'll be rewarded. And also, this is very important: virtually everything the show does -- every side character, every subplot, every seemingly frivolous detail -- comes back around in the show. Having watched the full series in its entirety twice, there were things I noticed the second time around from Season 1 that came back into play in later season, even season 5. There's maybe 2 things that were introduced and never really followed up on during the entire 60 episode run, which is a way of saying it's the anti-Sopranos.
