I don't see anything assholeish about trolling someone that is a complete asshole without reason.

The dude asked for it by complaining about "spoilers" where there wasn't any.

What exactly was the original spoiler, anyway? That the Dark Brotherhood quest has a final quest, and that the final quest for a faction dedicated to assassination is well suited to a soundtrack from a game about assassination? Shocking. If someone was complaining about /that/ being a spoiler, doing some actual spoiling may be a bit mean, but it is hilarious.

On the other hand, if you gave details about said final mission in an unmarked spoiler, it goes beyond being "a bit mean" and into dickish territory. Note that I would still consider it marked if it was in a thread that was marked for spoilers in the title, whether you personally marked your post or not.

I can, depending on who you're talking to.

I tend to care about the story as much as the gameplay. I want to feel the struggle. I want to feel sad and empty when a beloved NPC bites the dust at my side in an epic battle for... I don't know, Sparta or something.

Some people, like me, really care about the story, and don't want to have the impact ruined by spoilers.

Yeah posting a load of detailed spoilers in response was a pretty petty move. But as is often the case with a long running series, long term fans tend to casually mention stuff which technically are spoilers but everyone who is a fan of the series would know was in it and what it entails, but people new to the series wouldn't.

As long as you didn't do the thing I see a lot recently of putting *spoiler* AFTER you write the spoiler. People read fast and you sometimes absorb a bit of info before you realise it's something you might not want to know.

"You complain about spoilers? I'll give you something to complain about!"
Yeah, kinda makes you an asshole but there's no such thing as black and white, all shades of grey imo.

That guy was overreacting; you just told him so. I don't consider you a bad gamer for it. (Though it would've pissed me off if it was me :p)

Yes, you spouted spoilers and then when someone called you on it you defended your own WRONG action because it was you who committed it by doing it to a greater extent.

You certainly arent good or nice, your actions were petty.

OT: Well, ^that^. You're not eight years old (hopefully). Don't take stupidity as a challenge.
