Oh boy, let's see if I can keep this from turning into a huge, long-ass rant. My Dad is, without a doubt, the dumbest man I have ever met...but confusingly, he's also the smartest. There's no denying that he's booksmart, he graduated college with an advanced mathematics degree and worked as an engineer for Lockheed Martin. Stick him on Jeopardy and he might actually win some money. But he has no common sense. At all. He constantly does stupid things with absolutely retarded justifications, he's always saying the wrong things, has trouble hooking in the color-coded cords between the DVD player and TV, always misses the big picture, and to top things off, he absolutely WORSHIPS Fox News. Now I know that sounds petty, but I really think you have to have the intelligence of a snail to take anything that sensationalist tabloid says seriously. It's just hard to earn my respect when you watch those guys 24/7 (I'm not even looking at this from a political perspective. As a gamer with an interest in science, I've heard a lot of bullshit from Fox News).

Now my Mom...well, that's a character study in and of itself. For one thing, she treats my Dad like absolute garbage. Yes, he's incredibly annoying and stupid as I've said, but the way she acts you'd think he was a cross between a mud monster and Hitler. She's also very self-centered and generally grumpy, and is prone to throwing adult versions of hissy-fits when she doesn't get her way. Basically, she isn't a happy person and she takes it to extreme levels.

Of course, there's a very noticeable generation gap between me and my parents. They were well into their 40's by the time they had me, and we grew up in vastly different communities and cultures. So that's certainly a factor. Now of my three siblings, two of them are great. My brother is my best friend and though I rarely see her, my sister and I get along great. But my other brother...

Ugh. No, I'm not going to go into that. Just know he has a lot in common with my Dad, but is not booksmart in any way. On top of that, he's openly selfish, rude, volatile, and just kind of a dickbag.
