Not really a area of expertise but being of hispanic decent and living with hispanics my whole life, It's annoying the way we're potrayed in media. Usually the gangster or hootrat of the group.

Uh guitar related stuff when it's being faked annoys me but it's just a whatever thing. And i'm no expert with guns but i've been around them and shot enough to know that 90% of everything gun related in the media is bullshit.

And while I have no degree in the field, I do a lot of studying on animal behavior cause it fascinates me. I stay up nights just looking up the most random animals you can think of and learning almost everything about the way they act/eat/mate/ etc. So when people try to come up with excuses as to why a certain animal (like say a cat or dog) is acting it really irks me cause they're almost always wrong.

My mom went to med school and used to rage at House and Grey's anatomy... though they were also her favorite shows for some reason.

Basic knowledge of weapons operation and military tactics ruins pretty much every action movie, as does having any sort of medical knowledge. Every time I watch an action movie, I can't help but notice that there does not appear to be any such thing as recoil or shell casings (except where dramatic slow-mo is in effect.)

I also have some knowledge of aviation, which can cause problems. Breaking Bad was ruined for me when there was that mid-air between two planes because of an air-traffic controller on a perfectly clear day. I literally yelled at my TV.

Yeah. I'm a biomedical student and have been so for 2 years. It's annoying when some shows get some things wrong. (or Shampoo commercials, where the shampoo had special Keratine Amino Acid to strengthen your hair. KERATINE AMINO ACID? ARE YOU SERIOUS ? ).
They probably mean glycine, at least I hope. Hair is mostly glycine, even though it smells like cysteine. A reasonable amount of people know that hair and nails are made from keratin, not quite so many know that keratin is mostly glycine with a good mixing of other amino acids. I could chalk that up to not wanting to over complicate things for laypeople.

One that was really bad was on Fringe, some sympathetic villain says that being injected with restriction enzymes would 'trigger a massive hemorrhage'. I was like "girl, please", plus "why are they red?"

Around 80% (made up percent) of the solutions I've worked with in a lab have been clear.
I didn't think of it that way. Perhaps you're right and they meant the aminoacids in Keratine. But i know it said The Keratin Amino Acid, making it sound like they thought keratine was an amino acid :p. That restriction enzyme one is really bad :p. It's also fun when you hear people thanking about a special new diet they read up on and then try to explain how it works, but is usually pseudoscience babble.

I definitely wouldn't call myself an expert, but I have studied A-level Geography. I can no longer watch The Day After Tomorrow without ripping it to shreds. Mr. Bay, if you're reading this: CLIMATE CHANGE TAKES THOUSANDS OF YEARS, NOT A FEW DAYS. Also, HURRICANES DO NOT WORK THAT WAY.
you don't even need to know ANYTHING about science to find that movie stupid, you can just tell

at the end "oh..so it turns out we could have avoided trouble if we just STAYED EXACTLY IN THE SAME SPOT and waited for the ice age to go away..which it did"

Hey, everyone knows that ice chases people down hallways.

What grates my cheese is shoehorning essential oils into things. Most of the time they don't do anything other than add smell, and allergens in the process. But hey, it's acai/pomegranite/papaya/mango/whatever "exotic" enough plant in it, so we'll charge you an extra $3 a bottle.

Whenever I hear a product has "enzymes" I want to know what enzymes, what concentration, the kinematics and the species of origin.

You ever hear an American try to portray an Australian? Makes my ears bleed something fierce, and IT'S THE SAME BLOODY LANGUAGE (just with 90% more 'mates', 'G'days' and 'Bloody' in it than normal).
to be fair aparently the Australian accent is really hard to do...it often comes across as too cockney or new zealdand like

much like the scotish accent which is hard to do without butchering it (to scottish peopel I imaine..I doubt we could tell)

Now I'll admit that my martial studies have been in Japanese arts with Japanese weapons but we've always been taught to NEVER BLOCK, instead deflecting/parrying the attack. I feel like I feel like I have to put that out there, if you block an attack you still take all its force, just to your weapon instead of your skull.
It differs a lot, static blocks aren't usually as useful as other things, but they are an option and they do have their own advantages. It depends in particular on what weapon you're using. Static blocks with 2 handed swords are generally not what you want to aim for (but certainly doable, particularly with European swords). Single handed systems allow for much more static blocking because the blows you're receiving don't have nearly as much angular momentum to stop, but actually aiming to 'stop' a sword that's at the height of its power is rare. That said, just about every technique you use is done with the edge, static block or things like deflections etc.

First of, thoes are not longswords, its bastardswords, the bastard child of the longsword and the greatsword.
Secondly, most of these techniques aren't possible when wearing heavy armor, which were the thing you did during war, so this is either completely made up or made for dueling-purposes.
Sword terms have gotten very confused in modern times, thanks in large to fantasy writers and tabletop games like D&D. Pre the renaissance-y sort of era (not a history buff), there was one word for a sword; sword. It's only later on that they start to try to classify them (because suddenly there were lots of types!).

That said, under those classifications, the proper terms are;
A sword with a handle large enough to fully fit 2 hands is a longsword (unless it's really long, then we get into the territory of greatswords and the two handed claymore, on the topic of which the root word in Gaelic for claymore literally means 'sword')
A sword with a handle large enough to partially fit 2 hands (one hand may end up resting on the pommel) is a hand-and-a-half or a bastard sword.
A sword with a handle intended only to fit one hand is a sword, or 'single' sword. There are many, many other adjectives that talk about types of these swords (broadswords, backswords, sideswords, rapiers, smallswords and so on).

Also I'm in agreement with Demoman Chaos here; you could definitely move okay in well made armour. That said, longswords are used differently against people in full plate armour (look up 'half-swording', basically you end up wrestling with a sword).
