Actually, depending on where (I'm assuming you're American,) you graduated, this may be quite common. Hell, in my school in the Missouri, we had to get rid of: Music, 3/4 of the art program, most of our science classes, a few math classes, and all but basketball for sports. The way American schools are funded is ridiculous. Do you know how hard it is to apply for colleges, who ask you what you participated in, and you come from a school that almost literally has nothing? It makes things incredibly difficult.

Heck, man, that's better than my school here in Missouri. We got rid of Music and most of Art years ago, and the only reason we kept the shred of art is that a fine arts class is required to graduate in this state. Plus, we got rid of about half of the sciences and about a quarter of the English classes (literature, writing, etc.) The way our schools are funded is ridiculous.
