I feel your pain.
Then again, maybe in my case they're just lying to make sure I don't hit on them, which would be understandable, considering I'm a lard-ass with imposing upper-body musculature.
Anyway, first of all a girl for me needs to find shy guys at least moderately attractive. I know that's a one-in-a-million trait right there, but I can't help it, I'm painfully shy.
I usually have a thing for petite girls. Don't know, maybe that's the primal protector in me speaking. Also, I have absolutely no use for princesses, clubbers and fashion victims - give me something down-to-earth instead with a bit of a wild streak (a single tattoo or piercing, maybe). I respond extremely well to tomboyish girls, both in looks and personality. I like middle-length or short hair, preferably black or red. (What is it about redheads, anyway?) Oh yeah, and let's not pitter-patter around the sexual aspect here: I've never really been a boob person, but I do like a cute little ass; also, the "devil in the kitchen, angel in the bedroom" thing works fine for me (though the opposite could be interesting as well, I suppose).
Common interests are obviously important. I don't like feeling like a complete weirdo when I talk about sci-fi novels, games, music, pen & paper RPGs etc. She should be passionate about some particular thing, be that what it may - I want to learn something new from a girl and, in turn, be able to offer her something new as well.
Oh yeah, and one more thing: I have difficulties getting myself to try new things, so if she's impulsive and convincing enough to help me out with that I'd be supremely grateful.
*sigh* Oh well, it's nice to dream.
