i used to read a lot of those comics when i was younger, end several of my friends did ,too. However, the comic's name was "Mickey Mouse" and it had stories about Donald, and stories about Mickey. Tough didn't care about Mickey that much, just wanted to read Donald :D.

Also, I'm from Estonia. So maybe he is popular in the Baltic states, too ?

can report from Norway that DD&Co is very popular here too.

I think i still have the nicely categorized mags with Don Rosa and Carl Barks... somewhere.

I'm from sweden, in europe. donald duck is VERY popular and there's lots of magazines and toys etc, etc, but the two times i've been in USA i haven't seen a single donald duck thing. nothing at all. i mean, he was created in USA. So is America tired of walt disney classics? or does Sweden stay old school?
I don't think it's either one really.

All the Disney characters are popular here still, you just weren't looking hard enough I'd imagine. No, we don't line entire shelves with it in every store but that doesn't mean their not liked or popular.

I think Donald duck is a classic everywhere but today's kids want more action and violence than comedy. I'm Bulgarian and I grew on Donald duck comic books but my cousin who's 11 now hasn't even heard that there was a comic book about him. I think today's children get used to violence, drugs and alcohol in movies and animations a bit too soon and Donald only offers comedy to them....
I beg to disagree with you. I've seen children watching television. My friend's 6 year old brother can't get enough of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Handy Manny and all these other inane programmes entirely lacking action and violence. A lot of young children I know watch that "educational" rubbish. I grew up on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and it did me no harm...

I always like Donald Duck the best out of the Disney characters cos he was the least nice. I was that kind of child... Anyone else remember Duck Tales?

Back when I was in highschool, a teacher showed us a survey which stated that 90% of 18-year-old boys get a weekly piece of Donald Duck delivered to their doorstep. It's like the household "flick through while sitting in the toilet"-magazine, here in Finland.

I bet if the subscription suddenly stopped, everyone would feel that something's wrong, but nobody could tell what it is.

I don't know why, but it seems that nordic people generally enjoy reading stories about someone whose life is even worse off than theirs.

huh, your right, i mean every person in my family grew up with the (now) weekly donald duck and Co magazine, but on my trips to the states i haven't seen them anywhere.

edit: now that i think about, i only think hes this big in Scandinavia, haven't seen much of them in south Europe either.
The Dutch love them so much we gave June, May and April Duck a modernised make-over.
