so i was thinking in most games more so with shoot em ups theres always that weapon or class that is described as the noob class. take for instance modern warfare II when you could have a noob tube with explosive splash damage (cant remember perk name) and one man army (which replenished ammo on all your gear) so you could basically be a human artillery spam cannon. Another set of perks is marathon (unlimited sprint), lightweight (faster sprint) and commando (increased knife range) this made it possible to sprint round the map like the flash and just knife everyone

my question is do you think these perk and weapon combinations are cheating or do you think its merely making the most of what the developer has put in the game?

personally my opinion is that if its fun then do it, in shoot em ups in not there to get a good K/D im there to have fun and sprinting round a map like usain bolt on amphetamines is alot of fun. if it pisses someone of then they have to deal with it and if they take a game that seriously that they cant have fun unless they are MVP every game then its their loss

I don't care how you spin it.

If you use Wesker in UMvC3, you are a knave and a cur, with no redeemable characteristics whatsoever.

If the developer put it there, it's not cheating. I mean, fuck you for using that weapon or whatever, but it isn't cheating.
And Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer may as well be called a 'who can be the biggest dick' competition for what it is.

If the developer intended it to function that way then it isn't cheating. I'll still hate you for it though.

I can't stand it when people come up with arbitrary lists of things that other people aren't allowed to do in multiplayer games. If you are coming up with such lists, there are two possibilities for why:

A) Your list is actually a "things I keep dying to because of bad decisions I make" list, not a "unbalanced things" list.

B) The game you are playing has shitty balance, and you would be better off playing a different multiplayer game that doesn't suck.

It is the developer's job to make sure the game is balanced, so it wouldn't be cheating but rather the developer's to blame. However the benefit of having a community means that you can iron out the balance issues yourself as a community. And yes banning something isn't simply because you aren't good enough and keep dying. Sandstorm SubChomp is proof enough of this.

This . And that range on vergil . Like a friend of mine said :" range? What range? His range is the whole screen !". Although in tournament play , all is fair in love and war .

Vergil is fine, I mean, he's balanced with low health and 6,000,000 frames of recovery on of his normals.

If Wesker had the same health as Akuma and Strider, it wouldn't be so bad, but at the moment, his speed and power are far too high for someone of his size and HP.

Well it depends on the community, I for one always avoid a community without standards.
There are always some cheats and exploits in games, if you don't have the decency to avoid them so we can all have a proper match then I do not want you anywhere near me.

No I think it is the players fault balancing a game is crazy hard to do so regardless of how hard a developer tries there will always be something that is overpowered so it is down to the player to respect everyone else's fun and not use that weapon or combo.

If a combination of valid perks is so powerful it makes the others almost useless using them is not cheating it just means that the game has crappy balance so if you want to compete you have to choose the same.

I agree hes cheap but cmon people are always going to gravitate towards the more powerful characters in general in these games because most want to win. I tend to move around which usually means I lose when I dont pick my mains but thats ok.

Im more annoyed by the scrub mentality that ensues in these competitive games i.e if you lose you are a noob and suck ass while if you win you were lucky or cheap and should learn to play properly.

Unfortunately in most fighting games the competitive characters tend to be a select few so you could end up with say 40 fighters but really only 10 viable ones (for top level play), is a shame really. Although some people deliberately pick crappy characters so if they lose they can blame it on their selection, these people are called idiots.

You could cover all of your bases and hate both the player AND the game.

There will always be cheap exploits in competitive games and, even if you find it sickening, sometimes you have to sink to the level of some cheap idiot and show him that you can be even more cheap if only just to torment him.

As Daystar said, If you use Wesker in UMvC3, you are a *****. Vergil and Dante are annoying, but at least they have a weakness that can be exploited. The fact that Wesker can cheat an entire system mechanic should have been raising some red flags at Capcom.

Socom 2 got hilarious towards the end of its lifespan.

Early on a few of the guns were frowned upon by the community due to their power. But fair enough, 1 guns not gonna be a problem, we can just tell any newbies not to use it.

By the time I'd stopped playing nearly every gun was banned as a 'noob cannon'. The game names were hilarious. 'NO IW80 M60 MK3 MK14 M4A1 MGL AT-4 etc'. I think there was 1 or 2 guns by the end that weren't considered noob cannons in most games. Was rediculous.

At the moment though I really am hating shotguns on BF3. You'll see someone charge into a room with a fully automatic USAS shotgun and take everyone out. There is literally no counter to these things other than hoping you're out of their range when you spot them.

If a system is broken, and you exploit it, then i class it as cheating (ie Halo Reach armour lock, where you just stay in one spot for 6 seconds, immune to damage)

If you use an system properly, and as intended by the developer then its fine, on Assassins Creed Revelations MP I use throwing knives to slow my target down, or to make him fall from a building he/she is climbing up, apparently that makes me a "noob".

I'm gonna hate people who repeatedly spam the same moves in fighting games...yes it's a legitimate move but come on people vary it a little.
