I didn't find it creepy. I just thought it was a pretty cool short video. But it did take a turn for the weird at the end.
I haven't got shivers, it just felt a little more like a Professor Layton puzzle at some point.
I'm a little surprised the guy didn't look at the colored letters. I'd have picked up on the "Wales" thing immediately, as well as the fact that the letters are all different colors, since it's the first thing I end up doing to strange phrases and whatnot anyway.
I'm not trying to dismay you, but what kept me on the edge was the worry the video would have turned into a screamer (Had one too many pulled on me, so I hardly ever trust videos with "horror", thriller", "scary" or anything in that general lexicon).
Still, it did make me feel like I was a detective for a few minutes, and decectives are what I've always wanted to be when I grew up, so no complaints here.

I'm being unclear again. I meant to say that if you murder someone, leaving evidence like footprints and/or a sign of a struggle, you aren't an amazing killer. Almost definitely not a professional (Occam's Razor). Therefore, there's a good chance that the murderer would be acting out of the ordinary after the murder, and there's a good chance someone would've noticed (Occam's Razor). Also, given the circumstances, the murderer is probably a local. He'd either have to be watching the entire web, waiting for anyone to publish a blog/vlog etc... and find Fortess's videos, or (most likely) be watching the field (Occam's Razor). And if he's watching the field, he is able to do so on a frequent basis. Therefore, a local, who could be identified by shoe size/tread, would more than likely have exhibited some strange behavior (acting strangely when the murder is discussed), triggering a friend/relative/neighbor to come forward (because the report states that "Anyone with any information should contact the police") I realize that his name is ALone, but the type of person who expresses feelings like he seems to is generally not that alone on a daily basis, they just have unmatched emotional needs. (I've read several books on the mentally ill and criminal psychology, so yes I do think I know what I'm talking about.)Jadak said:

Oh god...I think a new Creepy Thread is starting to form...That story was pretty creepy. I think I'll be a bit more careful online...well, more so than usual.
Pretty well told story and comment on the nature of the internet. I did get a shiver, but that's because as soon as he mentioned yellow I went back and paused it at the note and deciphered line by line, much scarier than when they did it for you.
A damn good story made obviously fictional by the treasure hunter, not unlike many urban legends or dramatizations. There was a brief spell of a chill near my spine, and as a result I'll happily spread the story around if only because it's the season for spooky stories.

It wasn't oh dear god creepy but I really enjoyed it. I liked how they were up front about it being about a murder, and the narrator really gave it a Pushing Daisies vibe, with a sort of clever, cheerful cynicism. Made my day to say the least.
I'm really trying to get into MarbleHornets but I don't understand why it's starting off as a mystery. Why was he unnerved by the tapes (he'd have been better off being distracted and forgetting about them), what's he even looking for leads for? The user hasn't discovered a mystery at this early point (where I am in the story). The best things like these start off normal then the user gets freaked out by something crazy in the material and starts investigating. Or at least it should start off with something worth investigating. Kind of a shame it's so sloppy on the user end, because the camera work and editing is otherwise fantastic.
