Anyone ever had their parents or anyone else tell them this when they're watching you play shooters? What I don't understand is why it would make some people dizzy from watching but it wouldn't for others.

Well, I wall ran, turned, jumped, reversed, fingered a helicopter, landed, reverse rolled, turned, jumped, and landing rolled in Mirror's Edge, and my Dad asked me this.

I didn't get sick, my Dad did.

I have a friend that gets headaches from playing games older than last generation. I don't have this issue, so he game me all of his N64 games. ^_^

I don't get asked that question though.

They're just not used to it.

I get eyestrain watching someone play who doesn't know how to control the camera in FPSs. The camera swings wildly around the screen and never focuses on the people shooting. My eyes don't like it.

I suspect if your parents ever get acclimated to the game, they wouldn't feel that way anymore.

As said before, it's a matter of experience. Most of us have been playing these games for quite some time now.

I heard more people say this about Mirror's Edge, especially when they turn the cross-hair off. I did that and it didn't even phase me in the slightest.

my buddy said that when he watched me play fps said they made him dizzy to watch me play, made him play a bit he always got lost and did not know wth was going on etc. he held that attitude till fallout 3 came out and then i guess he got over it.

personally think he just made excuses because he never wanted to bother trying to figure em out, and back in the day he hated computers did not help.

it has something to do with the fact that you're leading the control so you know whats going to happen while the person watching is detached and doesn't know what to expect.

My dad got home from the pub once, and I was playing Portal.
It was one of those parts where you jump through a portal and shoot another one at the floor while you're in the air, then go through that one.

Basically, he thought he drank too much.

WAT?

OT: Portal occasionally makes my head spin, but only when I'm stuck in an infinite loop...
...Oh come on, It's not THAT hard.
No, but test chamber 18 always hurts my head...

Mirrors Edge has a cross-hair?

So far, Descent was my eye-wibbler. I could play it just fine, but watching someone else play gave me motion sickness.

With anything else, like TF2, I just lose track of what's going on, where someone is, which way he's facing and where everyone else went.

I think the difference is that Descent was zero-g with six-way control.

I never get phased by playing or watching others play games... But my gf gets really sick when playing fps games to long. it's something with the camera and the motion that does it. She can play 3rd person games a little longer and driving games just fine =)

I get motion sick easily. My parents know that and always ask me if this makes me sick. Mirrors Edge DID almost make me puke.

I'll get sim sickness on some games like F.E.A.R., and Left 4 Dead, so I don't play any of those...

It feels like I'm missing out...
