I started playing Uncharted 2 online after not using my PS3 for a while. I had to manually download the most recent update (for some reason) that took 10 mins, another couple for installing it. Then I had to update Uncharted 2 that took another 10 mins and then install. You thought it was done? Nope, had to take another 15-20 mins to update and sync Uncharted 2 to the network because for some reason, you can't just quickly download and install all that as one patch like the 360. At least the 360 takes 5 mins tops for updates.

If that does happen I say "nope" and cancel the patch and play the game unpatched. If it happens on something where it won't let me place until it's patched, then I disconnect my internet cable and play away

Supreme Commander does that.
You sit for almost half an hour waiting for it to patch, only to discover that it's not completly up to date, so you have to go hunting for the right patch on fileplanet, download it correctly, log onto GPG, and then get disconnected because you did something wrong...

Oh whine, whine. Uncharted 2 had like 8 patches before I could play it and the ps3 kept powering down for some reason half way through the download.

It did kinda suck when L4D2 was still downloading The Passing, but then again; it was The Passing. So yeah, that was worth the wait.
