On July 31st last year id software announced the next game in the doom series, it will neither be a sequel for Doom 3, and not a new beginning for the series. The game is deep in development, but not in pre-production. Id is still hiring people for the Doom 4 team, and once again the CEO of id software has stated he would like to make another movie, which the last one was up to manys standards. The question is what is your hopes for Doom 4?

Did the Doom games ever have enough storyline to be considered a saga? The plot was just there to give us an excuse to shoot as much shit as possible.

As long as it doesn't have The Rock starring in it, I don't care.
Actually, the inclusion of the rock would probably be the only incentive for me to buy it.
Goddamn, his neck is awesome.
Like a pillar of stone.
Veiny stone.

As long as theres a flashlight attached to the suit ot guns it should be great!
This, and I would like the guns to work like guns and not useless sticks.

You mean getting killed cause you can't see your enemies, cause you have to switch to your flashlight and guns, so you can actually see were the hell you going?

Yeah thats very traumatising...I still remenber to this day.

Matter of fact, when people ask whats bad design I just give Doom 3 example.

Stupid flashlight...

While I do agree with what everyone says about the flashlight I found it to add to the environment creepiness. I got bored a added the hack to brighten the rooms up (yes, they exist. Can't remember where just use google) but it took away the great pop up moments, for example:

I'm walking down the hallways... I can just barely see the ghoul up ahead, he sees me, I switch to my assualt rifle (or whatever), "HOLY CRAP! where did that pinky come from!"

I'm walking down the hallway.... Oh look a ghoul BANG! (I didn't even need to change my gun because the flashlight is useless with the hack), oh look a pinky in the room beside me BANG!

It just kills the adrenline of having to panic to get your gun out quickly and fill those creature with lead (or plasma.... or grenades..... or french fries <----- Got a little bored here). But the environment darkness also helps us feel like we're in a hellish Mars base.

I hoping for the hordes from the DOOM I and II, rather than the few at a time battles of DOOM III.
