Doom makes me sick. No, it's not because of the violence.

It's never happened to me with Doom, which is just as well since it's my favourite game, but the original Wolfenstein 3D did give me motion sickness - it's the speed of the movement and the very repetitive and limited range of textures that did it to me.

I get the same thing with certain games... just not really the old ones.
Most recently dead space did it. (not a very good game to begin with so I'm not complaining)

Kane and Lynch also did it for me.. that shit made me want to puke.

Also for some odd reason i've found (playing at my GFs house) that games i normally have no problem with on my older TV, make me queezy on her giant HD TV.

bc2 and borderlands made me sick within 30 mins of playing.
yet on my PC or on my tv i can play both for hours.

I don't have any problems with Doom or Dark Forces, but looking up and down in the Build engine (Duke Nukem 3D, Blood, etc.) does bad things to me.

Ahhh...I know a friend who couldn't play Quake 2 because it made him motion sick.

I don't get motion sickness playing games. The only game to ever give me motion sickness was Portal, but I got over that.

I've only ever had it in fast paced COD:BO split screen. Too much happening at once combined with massive lag and SOMEONE going in and out of the sniper scope again and again does not a happy stomach make :(

Interesting, I always thought it was ugly as hell, never thought it could be sickening...
If you REALLY want to spill your guts, try red/blue 3D mode on Half Life 2's first vehicle section.

I'm just glad i don't get it and am able to play games that my dad used to play. Theres something about that which makes the game that much more enjoyable.

Oh god, this. I was about to respond with something like "nope, never, yadda yadda" but then this.
Seriously, you just have to trot along in that game to avoid vomiting. And that's impressions from the demo.

I used to feel nauseous sometimes when I played Star Wars: Dark Forces back when I was 11 or so. Same thing, right?

There was only one game that caused this problem for me: Marathon. And even then only years after I originally played it without a problem.

I never felt nauseous with earlier FPS'ses and I've been playing FPS since I was 7 or 8 years old and coincidentially, my first FPS was Doom 2 and I never felt that way.

The way older FPS'ses are rendered is very different than how today's FPS'ses are rendered, the older games were 2D based games masked under 3D environments (if that makes any sense). But there are a few games with newer ports and modern engines that makes them less sick indutioning and are much more playable and makes them look much better. Like GZDoom for the Dooms or EDuke32 for Duke Nukem 3D, with those engines, both games are rendered in full 3D and thus, you won't feel sick.

EDIT: Damn, ninja'd... well, my point still stands :p

I'm the same. I played Prey for about 30 minutes and barely made it away from the screen without vomiting.

Prey is unplayable for me.
