Well there is going to be a Doom4 and id would like another Doom movie but the game is still in development.

There ya go. A movie will be made based off of the upcoming game. There'll be a console version, although John Carmack says it'll look the best on the PC. Everybody wins.

Anywho, I kinda liked Doom3. Sure it defitnly truned down the none stop sexy violence, but the graphics were pretty cool, and it was somewhat erie. And the doctors recordings were kinda funny. I remember one that sai " I don't know why they sent us chainsaws, we don't really need them. And two seconds later a guy weilidng a chnacesaw attacks you. Funny stuff.

I have fond memories of pixalated gore laden DOOM, I look forward to a current gen installment

Doom3 got too caught up into its own theatrics and I didn't enjoy it as much as the cohesively demonic designs of it's predecessors. I enjoyed randomly teleporting to different satanic landscapes where in the Doom3 it was always about the space station.

I wholeheartedly agree. Why did they try to spook you in Doom 3 anyways? It was always about kicking ass without taking names, not: "It's dark. I'll put my gun away and pop out my flashlight to see what's lurking in the darkness. Oh whoa it's one of those imps. Better go get a plasma rifle out and perforate this poor guy.

to dukethepcdr: Doom 2 was my personal fav solely because of the double-barreled shotgun. It was my weapon of choice when I was a wee little 5 year old.

Ive enjoyed playing every Doom game that has come out. It might get a bit repetitive, but fighting all the swarms of demons in hell on nightmare mode in Doom 3 was great and the flashlight/dark areas were really well done even if you got knew what was there, but thats like Dead Space which lost its thrill after a few levels. Cant wait for Doom 4 and hopefully there wont be another movie. Doom was just plain bad.

Dude thats uber cool. Any ways I think it's time for Carmack to start telling us a little about the game. At leat a teaser trailer or something. Or maybe a couple of screen shots. Is that to much to ask for? Maybe the game is to early in development for them to say anything.

I think ID dropped the ball with DOOM3. Maybe because they'd been juggling so long. The need to go back to what made DOOM games good. Loads of monsters, triggers, wide open spaces and level design (not corridor design).

If it's good, i'll buy it.

I'm fairly sure that iD did announce Doom4 already at some Japanaese convention, but I don't know any more. I liked Doom 3, so bring it!

What I hope is that they make this one more runny gunny shooty fun like doom 1 and 2.

Not that doom 3 was in any way BAD, of course.
And enemy's that does not go directly from undamaged body to fine mushy paste all in one go would be nice.

And perhaps also allowing the player to hold the flashlight AND a gun at the same time, as I can remember being ever so slightly frustrated at meeting something scary in the complete darkness, and then be forced to PUT AWAY the flash light, equip a gun of some sort, let loose a few bullets blindly into the dark void, and then switch back to the flashlight to see if I hit anything.

For me, I've tried to play DOOM3 twice. Got bored twice. Didn't make it much past the spiders. It wasn't a DOOM game. It was an okay survival FPS but did not have what I liked about DOOM. I liked touches they had, but it seemed they tried to make Half DOOM life. I don't think it worked. Maybe if I'd sped through the game (completed on day of release) like my friend who said he thought it was okay. 1 out of 5 friends.Memories are too vivid of how good the originals were.

We'll see what they do with the IP when Four comes about.

EDIT: and like Arcstone says "the Flashlight". Bad times.

To update the graphics and give it keyboard and mouse. If DOOM4 is a retelling of DOOM2's story - this is all they should do.

We'll see, I reckon they'll try to add loads of stuff and ruin it.

Did CapCom kill, the RE series when they remade the first one? No it was highly praised. I am confident in id not just becasue I am a Doom fan. Just becasue they are a good developer and. They know what the fans want to see.
