Wow. I mean I didn't think it was going to be good, but that's like...unreal bad. If I didn't know better I'd say that's a film school $100 budget movie, not a major motion picture. For a movie it looks beyond cheap.
The CollegeHumor parody trailer actually looks more expensive.

Thought that was a porno parody before i read your comment

And Swiper is gonna be voiced by Benicio Del Toro, AKA Che Guevara/that guy from the Usual Suspects.

AI DIOS MIO, PORQUE BENICIO?!
Maybe they wanted to do a movie that their kids/nieces and nephews/grandkids/etc. can go see without being traumatized.
Also the fact that Danny Trejo will do anything. He's got more movies coming out this year than some actors get in decades.

Danny Trejo is in that category of actors who are basically just having fun with it at this point and I couldn't love it more.
I'd say that Michael Pena is doing the same. Guy's filmography ranges from End of Watch to My Little Pony.

I mean, for a kid's movie it doesn't looks all that bad? I struggle to see what connection it has to the educational cartoon, that mostly involves Dora teaching kids Spanish words (or English words in the Swedish dub) and having kids shout at the screen for Swiper not to steal, but as an adventure movie for kids in the 7-12 range? Seems cool enough.

Who is this even for? Hasn?t Dora been cancelled for like 5 years now? Aren?t all of her fans of drinking age by now? Has any other animated preschool learning show felt the need to cross lines into a live action feature film with genuine attempts at peril and intrigue? This just screams ?cash grab.?
Reruns are a thing. Dora probably still has many fans in the right age bracket to enjoy a half decent movie made for them in a slightly more exciting style.

This much I understand, it just seems really an odd choice to reach into a relatively shallow vault and reimagine something in such a way that does not target its original, very narrow demographic. Do you think there are any toddlers out there that want to see the ?real? Dora fall into a ravine? What next? A live action version of Blue?s Clues where Blue is kidnapped by Michael Vick, and Steve has to follow her clues to rescue her from a dog fighting ring?

Did we really need this? Is Dora the Explorer a big thing any more?

Granted, my disdain for shows aimed at little kids might color my opinions a bit but still...

Do you think Dora will at some points address directly to the movie audience and follow it with a pause? Or at least subvert it and show how awkward that was? Also, if Swiper isn't the mastermind behind the mercenaries, I'm going to be really disappointed.
