I loved the TI3. Cost me way to much sleep and I now have a ton of stuff I need to catch up on but it was (kinda) worth it. Being from Denmark, by Scandinavian law, I kind of had to support [A]lliance, which was not all that hard I have to admit. Never was able to get into traditional sports but I kind of understand the attraction a bit more now.

That was all s4. Interrupting Na'vi's TPs when they tried to defend their top and bottom? Huge. Alliance were able to take both top and bottom sets of barracks.

Honestly, the moment their TPs were interrupted, Na'vi should have just abandoned defense and tried to take the throne straight off. Between Alchemist and a Daedalus PA, they had the ability to do some major damage, and probably force Alliance to abandon taking rax and go back to defend.
No crits no melds on buildings. NA'VI could not out damage [A]liance when it came to buildings or at least they could not be sure so they chose to defend because they where still ahead of the time.
It was guaranteed that one lane of rax was going down, and there was no way they could stop the push without every member of Na'vi back. By going straight for throne, they'd either force Alliance to go for a base race, which Na'vi would win seeing how much damage PA was putting out, crit or no crit, or ALLIANCE would TP back to defend, which would result in two ways:

1) Alliance would abandon taking the rax to TP back immediately, which would put Na'vi out on top because their rax was still standing.

2) Alliance would take the rax and then TP back to defend, which would also put Na'vi on top, because the tier 4's would be dead or dying, allowing Na'vi to do what Alliance did and go straight for throne.

Alliance didn't have the damage or the lockdown to beat Na'vi in a straight base race. If Na'vi had pushed instead of running back to defend, I'm fairly sure they'd have won instead. Or if they really wanted, Batrider could have TP'd back to interrupt any of Alliance's TP attempts. And he's great at stopping pushes as well, and his autoattack damage isn't that high, so it wouldn't make that much of an impact on taking towers.

I have been put into a situation like this in a competitive match, so I am speaking from experience (somewhat). Of course, maybe Alliance had enough damage to take the rax faster, or Na'vi didn't have enough damage to dent the tier 4s. My estimates may be completely off, but I think Na'vi would have stood a better chance if they decided to stay and push rather than running all the way back to base after their TPs got cancelled.

It took the day off work and got up at 3am (+8 gmt) to watch the finals. Was not let down. When Na'Vi tried to base race mid lane and then got caught trying to TP back, broke my heart.

Very disappointed in The Escapist's (lack of) coverage of the final. You'd think a 2.8mil prize pool, 1.6mil to the champs and over 500k online viewers would garner a news article of some kind. LoL gets a new patch, front page news. Valve throws an amazing 5 day tournament complete with field reporters, 5 man panel, multiple english, chinese, korean and russian casters from the community? Nothing.

Like a lot of EU/UK viewers, I've been living nights since TI3 started. I'm a Synd/Mousesports fan, but as they left the tournament on the first day of the main event, I went adrift and eventually settled on Na'vi.

I didn't want to jump on that bandwagon, but games 1 and 3 against Tongfu, plus that comeback in game 3 versus Orange, just made it impossible not to be a supporter. Na'vi's games were the most exciting and unusual of the tournament, simple as that. Only Alliance vs. LGD China game 1 comes close.

The above stated, I'm not unhappy with the end result. That last game was a real spectacle. As a whole, the event was more than worth the dangerous levels of fatigue I'm still experiencing.

Also, during the finals:
330,000 viewers on Twitch, that I saw.
177,651 viwers in the client, that I saw.
Plus those watching in the stadium. (didn't see, obviously)
Plus those watching on Dota2's website rather than any other. (didn't check)

Largest audience in the history of e-sports? I think it's probably so.

Na'Vi fans are annoying.
Way to generalize, man.

OT: I've never been a fan of split-push strategies, but S4 really redeemed himself after that terrible first half of the final game. I wanted Na`vi to win, but Alliance is a fantastic team.

All in all, there is no esports-tournament on par with The International. Kudos to Valve, keep it up!

You know what, I'm gonna post some photos just to show what kind of event that was, just to show that despite very hostile online community Dota is still an amazing game with amazing players who show the meaning of real sportsmanship.

Note that people on majority of those photos are not teammates, but actually rivals! Rivals, who battle for more than $1.4 million and who are simply having fun playing their favorite game.
