It begs the question for why Doto needs a sequel. There's no need since the most that can happen is a graphical overhaul with the genre set as it is. I'd personally prefer an editor closer to WC3 (because I've never used it and it's pretty awesome) since custom games are good.

Eventually DOTA 2 will be so overfilled with content and old code and they'll have to launch a new game (DOTA 3). That that's going to take ages, maybe 10 years.

I don't see why they even trademarked dota3 in the first place, sequels to these kinds of games aren't very necessary at all. It's not like there would be much advantage in releasing a new MOBA every 2 or 3 years. Hell, how many was there between the first version of Warcraft 3 dota and dota 3? More than 5 years at least, probably closer to 10. Granted, that's the difference between a mod and an actual professional game, but these kinda games simply aren't built for sequels.

A DotA 3 probably shouldn't even happen for at least 10 years, if ever. DotA 2 has a solid foundation that's built to be improved. There's no need for a new one when the current one can just become whatever it needs to be in the future. It's amazing as it is for now though.

DotA 2 will be one of those games which will be like WoW. There won't be much need to create a sequel.
DotA2 has the market of "most authentic MOBA of DOTA which isn't HoN because barely anyone knows HoN exists".

I think DotA2 will be the perfection of DotA1. Other MOBA games can explore other ideas. There a demand for the traditional MOBA experience. Also, DotA2 is considered to be the hardest MOBA games to play well. I can't imagine any game developer to be like "right. Lets make a MOBA. But make it much harder to learn to play and master than DOTA2!"

DotA2 will turn into DOTA3 when the DOTA2 engines cannot cope or if Valve needs to rebuild it from the ground up.

DotA2 will be like WoW in terms of development. WoW is still rocking its graphic engine since it was made, and it still look fresh (thanks to its aesthetic). Shame other aspects are fossilising.

Im the same. i tried MOBAs and got dissapointed. I always choose the industrialist/PVE roles in MMOS and only really go PVP in FPS style games. Its not about vengeance for me, but rather outsmarting the opponent.
That's probably why you didn't enjoy playing MOBAs. MOBA are team highly team based. More so than most FPS games. The mistakes of your team will physically hurt you because the enemy will have a numerical advantage in terms of items or level. Also, you could outsmart your enemy, but if they have more numbers than you, it'll be harder.

To outsmart the enemy effectively despite your awful team, you need to be substantially better than the enemy.

I think in FPS your team being shit negatively affects you less. So it probably feels better for you because you're getting more genuine feedback of your ability.

I used to play MOBA a lot. But since my "friends" ditched me and I started playing Solo, my enjoyment is less. It's not fun at all to tragically lose because of someone else's mistakes (yes, you played a good game, but you still lost a game due to this stranger). And it's also not fun being horrendously carried, where you feel like if you didn't exist, your team would still win regardless.

As no surprise to anyone. It would make zero sense to make a "dota 3" when dota 2 is exactly the same as the first one with better graphics and interface. Its also completely free and earns its money on selling ingame items. if there is anything they need to add to the game, they're just going to add it. Completely redoing it again would serve no purpose whatsoever.

Dota 2 will continue to be updated and supported by Valve. There's already some evidence that suggests it's being moved over to Source Engine 2.0 (along with many of Valve's other titles). A sequel in the traditional sense would be meaningless.
