Not sure why not one has reported this yet but you can download Shadow Complex for the PC for free this month at https://www.epicgames.com/shadowcomplex/ in its original high def glory.

What. What WHAT. How did I not know about this? Shadow Complex was one of my favorite XBLA games ever, not to mention one of the few reasons I miss my 360, and I had given up hope of it ever coming to PC. Thanks a ton OP.

EDIT: Ok not a deal breaker, at least for me, but be forwarned you do need to make an account and install Epic's shitty launcher. Seriously Epic? Why the hell do you need this ornate clunky launcher for your whopping five games, three of which are in alpha and one of which is both unreleased and a total enigma.

What I had read was the PC game is free to keep because the original game was created in hi def and they had scale down the graphics for the xbox 360. They said they may release it through Steam eventually so achievements will be on Steam but it will not be free and it will be after the xbox one & PS4 ports.

Nice. I've been wanting to play it for a while, but it wasn't on PC and I was kind of leery about giving any money to OSC.

Oh, so that's the catch.

Kinda makes me want to wait for the eventual Steam release. Also, I'm lightly addicted to muh cheevos, silly and detrimental to game design as they usually are.

Ever since I played Advent Rising, I've been wanting to play Shadow Complex, since the developer behind AR became Chair after things went to crap with the ill-fated Majesco. (Apparently Advent Rising and Psychonauts being cult hits that didn't sell so good are the reason they quit publishing normal games and killed the AR sequels. Everyone loves to talk about how great Advent Rising and Pyschonauts were, but few actually bought them.)

Anyhow, since I'm a PC gamer, I never had the chance. Well, I've downloaded the game using the shitty launcher, but haven't had a real chance to sit down and play it since I've been busy with AC: Syndicate. However, the visual overhaul looks decent. The sound quality seems a wee bit iffy. The presentation is a lot better than the average "Metroidvania" game, though.

About a year ago, I read the first tie-in novel, Empire. It wasn't fantastic, but it was interesting. I'm hoping that this remaster is successful enough to warrant Chair making more games in the universe. And I hope Microsoft doesn't work their nonsense and kill a PC version of any such sequel. Chair have implied that this remaster is testing the waters for a sequel.
