Ever since I played Advent Rising, I've been wanting to play Shadow Complex, since the developer behind AR became Chair after things went to crap with the ill-fated Majesco. (Apparently Advent Rising and Psychonauts being cult hits that didn't sell so good are the reason they quit publishing normal games and killed the AR sequels. Everyone loves to talk about how great Advent Rising and Pyschonauts were, but few actually bought them.)
Anyhow, since I'm a PC gamer, I never had the chance. Well, I've downloaded the game using the shitty launcher, but haven't had a real chance to sit down and play it since I've been busy with AC: Syndicate. However, the visual overhaul looks decent. The sound quality seems a wee bit iffy. The presentation is a lot better than the average "Metroidvania" game, though.
About a year ago, I read the first tie-in novel, Empire. It wasn't fantastic, but it was interesting. I'm hoping that this remaster is successful enough to warrant Chair making more games in the universe. And I hope Microsoft doesn't work their nonsense and kill a PC version of any such sequel. Chair have implied that this remaster is testing the waters for a sequel.
