I think I want to punch someone right now.

"The great thing about anime is that it is well respected in the North American Community as a more adult form of animation."

So glad to see that people have so little faith in western animation that they feel the need to go anime to be taken seriously.

I don't have anything against anime, but I do have a beef with people who look down on Western products in comparison.

This im definitely leaving to a retrospective. Not because it might be good but because i dont want to attract Bioware fanboy flames, which i was exceptional at during MM.

They should have just found a special art style and not drift into the Japanese anime ones... because that's rather lazy. You have various different ways you can have you animation visually. Pulling your hands up and saying, "Well, those Japs know how to make animated epics!" is just bleedin' sad.

I just love how they casually diss western style animation saying shit like "OMG there'z a BADGUY!"

Oh boy.

Oh boy.

Wasn't one of the head writers or something on Dragon Age 2 someone that just screams "yaoi fangirl?"

For the fans of the original, this is going to rip open the wounds that are only just healing from Dragon Age 2's mediocrity.

EDIT: Or maybe, just maybe, it'll turn out to be another Baccano or Full Metal Alchemist instead of something as disastrous as, say, Elfen Lied.
.
No bleedin' way it can be as tight as FMA or as insane as Baccano...
I think that they'll be using the same plot but with different set pieces.

"We were inspired by Kurosawa films! Kurosawa's Japanese, and so is anime!"

of course, the logical conclusion.

Also for added insanity on Bioware's part, you've got to read this.

Within the first bloody paragraph, I've already facepalmed.

Maybe what he's getting at is that many western animated movies/series are geared mainly towards children?

I'll agree that it doesn't make any sense to look down on an animated feature because it's made in the western style.

About the trailer, I don't really like the art style. It looks very plastic to me.

Look at "Archer" and tell me that it's for children. Come on, tell me.

Alright. I call 'magic girl' adaptation.
Who else is with me?
Well, it's supposed to star Cassandra Pentagast. So.... religious fanatic magic girl?

Or Renaissance 2015, or Titan A.E, or Batman: Under the Red Hood.

Bioware is talking out of their ass on this one.

Oh, crap, "Batman : Under the Red Hood" was marvelous.
Why won't they just look at these varied art styles and pick one which suits the atmosphere, damn it...

Not again.

Look, Devs and Exec's out their, I have a passionate plea from many of my fellow gamers.

STOP MAKING WESTERN VIDEOGAMES INTO ANIME'S!

It's not the Aesthetic portion of anime that bothers me, It's the way Japanese handle the characters in a story. Most characters are butchered with ridiculous motives, horrible back stories, and Deus ex machina abilities/powers. The whole samurai revenge story was nice....until every anime out their used it and made it uninteresting. I can call the story of the first few episodes (probably) too.

Princess *Insert name here* learned how to use a sword and became a very powerful warrior. She then was tasked by her father to hunt down *Insert monster here*. While fighting the beast she is hurt and wakes up in a shack, being watched over by two people whom become her companions in the long run. She overcomes her arrogance and self-mindedness and accepts friend-ship and defeats the beast with her new-found *Insert name of power here*.

Oh, did I forget to mention she is 'THE CHOSEN ONE!'

TL:DR The plot will be crap. Critics who love anime will be all over it, while others will just let it pass as a fad.

My we have a lot of people who've only been watching Magical Girl animes here :/
I've seen Vexille, and I can assure you it had no silly magic and was in fact a mech, so there was pretty much no magic to be seen anywhere, unless you consider nanobots magical.
The animation wasn't great I'll admit, but it was pretty decent.
I don't know exactly how to judge this, on the one hand I'm excited that there's a DA film in the works, on the other hand I've never seen a decent game-to-film adaption to date (nor the reverse), so if anything it'll be a good film in its own right, but will be raged at by fans by not being good enough, accurate enough, exactly how they imagined it or any combination thereof.
Here's a novel idea; let's see a proper trailer before we shoot it down in flames...?
Speaking of flames *raises her firewall*

I'd be willing to just ignore this crappy looking movie, if they hadn't decided to slap on the interview where they all but said "we have absolutely no faith in western animation whatsoever, so anime it is!"
