My we have a lot of people who've only been watching Magical Girl animes here :/
I've seen Vexille, and I can assure you it had no silly magic and was in fact a mech, so there was pretty much no magic to be seen anywhere, unless you consider nanobots magical.
The animation wasn't great I'll admit, but it was pretty decent.
I don't know exactly how to judge this, on the one hand I'm excited that there's a DA film in the works, on the other hand I've never seen a decent game-to-film adaption to date (nor the reverse), so if anything it'll be a good film in its own right, but will be raged at by fans by not being good enough, accurate enough, exactly how they imagined it or any combination thereof.
Here's a novel idea; let's see a proper trailer before we shoot it down in flames...?
Speaking of flames *raises her firewall*
This. Basically my response.
Seriously people. See a trailer before you judge the damn thing. This actually has me excited!!
Hey, guess what? There was a trailer in the video I put up. Shocking I know. The animation looks like crap, and the Biotards spent more time gushing about how anime is TEH AWESUMS! because it isn't for little kids.

Okay true, I hate their fucking mindset that western animation can't be adult (BEOWULF!... second half of the film sucked but still BEOWULF!)... but I still want to see it, and I don't mind the animation.

Oh boy.

Oh boy.

Wasn't one of the head writers or something on Dragon Age 2 someone that just screams "yaoi fangirl?"

For the fans of the original, this is going to rip open the wounds that are only just healing from Dragon Age 2's mediocrity.

EDIT: Or maybe, just maybe, it'll turn out to be another Baccano or Full Metal Alchemist instead of something as disastrous as, say, Elfen Lied.

EDIT 2: And the CG looks like ass. I don't hate CG when it's done right, but when done badly it looks like a fucking PS1 pre-rendered cutscene. And that's exactly what this looks like. It's bad. It's horrible. It needs to go to hell.
As an optimist and fan of Dragon Age 2, let me just put that "maybe" to rest, and say "I doubt it with every bone in my body" -_-'

The animation looks like ass. Really, you put it best. Like ass.

I'd put a picture of an ass next to a picture of the anime if it wouldn't be against forum rules. Hell, if it's a girl's ass, I may even enjoy that one more than this.

*sigh*

I love Dragon Age and DA2 but as a whole I'm glad I've never delved into the extended universe.

EDIT: And, really, as good as FMA? Even I know that wouldn't be possible, and I dislike anime in general (absolutely love FMA, though, I was gonna start another watch-through of it tonight :D)
First things first: Nice avatar.

Second thing: I'm willing to give anything a chance. I don't think this will be anywhere near as good as FMA, probably will be a pile of shit, but we'll see when it releases. Who knows? It might actually be.

...but it was made by the same guys that made Appleseed, and that sucked. So... yeah.

Also, if you liked FMA you might like Baccano. I can't recommend that to enough people, it's confusing at first but by the end you'll say "AHA!" and love the whole thing.

Third thing:

About Brotherhood:

Tried it. Bored me to tears. I prefer the original's tone, story, and writing far more.
Brotherhood is much more idealistic and less dark, but as the series goes it sort of "corrects" itself and the pacing, tone, etc. all get better. I strongly disliked Brotherhood at first as well, but eventually gave it a second chance and I'm glad I watched it. I still don't like it as much, but it's still pretty interesting and after episode 12, the story is entirely different and gives a nice and proper conclusion.
1. Thanks. Even though I haven't played any Zero games in years, that red ************ will always hold a special place in my heart :D

2. It is possible, but I honestly don't like the DA universe enough to look past any glaring flaws in the way its extended universe is presented. So, yeah, I'll give it a shot, but I'll put it down if it's anything like what I'm picturing. Fingers crossed.

3. I actually have tried Baccano, it was recommended by quite a few people. I absolutely LOVE the concept, characters, animation, VA, and music, but for some reason it just couldn't hold my attention o_O

4. Would it be a terrible idea to skip to episode 13 of Brotherhood, then? 'Cause that's the only way I'll give it another shot.

So they wanted to make an anime out of Dragon Age, and they end up making an extremely wooden CGI movie...

Couldn't they have made something more akin to, oh I don't know, this:

Holy fuck, what was that? That animation was amazing O_O

But I saw "2012". Can you link me to some info on that?

Wow... an anime trailer actually psyching me up...

It's a new movie project based on the manga Berserk.

There was an anime adaptation of it back in the 90's, but apart from it looking like shit because of the small budget, it didn't even bother to finish in any decent way. Now it looks like they're trying to make amends by creating a series of actual worthy screen adaptations.

Though they're still gonna censor the living shit out it. Fans of the manga will know what I mean, and if you haven't read it yet you really should. It is one of the most amazing things ever put on paper.
