I ran into a couple problems. The audio was horrible for me, as all dialogue was much quieter than every other sound in the game. That, and the screen shook uncomfortably unless I held down the right mouse button to 'force' the screen in place. I'm not sure if that last one is because of my using DirectX 9 or not.

The audio problem is the biggest one. Even so, I think the game looks great. Very smooth and very attractive.

EDIT: I also think it is still fairly strategic. You can get the biggest bang for your gaming buck if you pause often (and play on a PC, of course).

I got the camera shake too. I have DirectX 10, but it either forces you down to 0 or up to 11. I really hope they fix it, because god it was annoying.

There wasn't a damn thing wrong with Origins. It just didn't float everyone's boat. Which is fine.

DA2 just changes some things that people complained most about before. I don't mind it, so far I am steadily beginning to like DA2.

But to call Origins broken? Give me a break.

Keep in mind that the OP also had a Origins hate thread a while ago and stated his dislike of the tactical aspect of RPGs.

Not my fault if someone sucked at understanding the system.

:p

I am really looking forward to that game.
This may be the first game where I choose to turn the gore effects off. People complained about the blood effects in 1, and what do they do? Make enemies explode upon death, causing a complete gorefest. Big tits and needless gore are satirized for a reason, Bioware.

Finally, the combat feels like i'm actually participating and having an actual EFFECT on the battle instead of it seeming like it relies on random chance if i didn't spend a billion hours just building everything "properly".

plus, the game looks better, not just generic "fantasy" and boring-looking combat. i like the new aesthetics, and it looks like the game it finally trying to be its own thing instead of like every other fantasy game.

overall... LOVING the improvements on the combat, it's just... better.

ESPECIALLY without all that bullshit "closing to attack range" that got me stuck behind rocks and killed so many damn times...
So now you can actually swing a sword and hit something with out having a cunning score of a billion!!!
FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC!

Do the enemy mages still stun lock you with every alternate shot?

nope. because the interaction with the game has so greatly improved that i can kill anything from a simple hurlock legion to an ogre without ever dying or having to switch characters.

I keep reading about the loading and while that was annoying, the bugs and crashes were worse.

Did the demo only crash for me? I advanced through it as if I had cast Haste just so that it wouldn't crash and I'd had to go through it again. Did Bioware discover I stopped liking them or something? Because this doesn't help.

Also I had to restart the game twice because of the bugs that didn't show the start movie, just the menu screen. And I can assure you, my computer is not to blame.

I don't know, it was exactly like Origins, just faster. You click on the dude your attacking, and Hawke attacks them with standard attacks, and you can select powers from the bar at the bottom.

I just wish the [sub]loading...[/sub] thing wasn't in the demo. That shit's annoying.
Huh? Did everyone else have it too? Does this mean my computer doesn't suck?

But yeah, it was pretty annoying. Am I the only one who thinks that the "closing in"-basic attack can be exploited? You can just jump between enemies, and they wont hit you. They always flinch, and with a two handed weapon you will do small AoE damage. I just bounced my warrior back and worth until able to use a skill, and then start the bouncing again.

Also, the Ogre can be defeated rather easily. Only thing you have to fear is the melee attack; I used Bethany to barrage it with magic, and with (warrior) Hawke I closed in, delivered few attacks, and went away. When you are out of it's melee range, it will either hurl a rock or try to ram you. Both are easily avoided, given how fast your character is. While it's hurling the rock/recovering from the ram, you can go and hit him again.

Not necessarily saying I'll play that way, but it just seems to be easy to take advantage of the new system.

Agreed on loving the new gameplay, for console atleast, as it really hasn't changed much on PC. Only thing I really didn't like was the new darkspawn designs.....seriously, how the hell am I supposed to take those silly things serious as villains? The ogre looks like it was dropped on it head as a child, FFS.

Really am loving everything else, though. Curious about the story, though...seems to be building "The Champion" up a bit too much, though there are a few really interesting places they could go with that. Can't wait!

Eh, I had the same issue with the first game. The thing is, if you take advantage of the skills you have and use them in a smart way, you can own the battle.

Agreed, the loading was rather bizarre, and that the combat was the same as Origins (and yet still people complain its somehow become a hack 'n' slash... right then), but I did feel more involved. I know they altered the cooldowns somehow to keep up the pace during combat, but I'm not entirely sure how.

Never got any of that, don't know about anyone else.

I loved Dragon Age: Origins, but I also love the changes BioWare made, especially the new conversation system :D
What! no, i hope your being sarcastic. The conversation system is streamlined to the point of being "Dumbed down" as some people say. You only have three choises, good and helpfull, triyng to be funny and angry. The result is that you don't have eny freedome to choose a anwser you would like to say, but will most likely just choose the good responds thoughout the entire game being a paragon playthrough a lá Mass Effect.

There isn't a meaningfull choice as your saying the same thing in three very similar way. as i saw playng the demo several times.

I really enjoyed the demo, had some trouble with the dialogue though. I definitely prefer the combat now, probably because it's easier for a 360 gamer. I wasn't really bothered by graphics or animations, possibly because I'm blind or inattentive.
Experience has taught me that people will hate on graphics/dialogue/animations etc. well in advance to save time.

You only have three options in Origins aswell, the mythical 8 choices people keep harping on about were five or more questions, clarifactions and judgement calls all of which are right there under investigate.

You could actually play the demo and make your own choice. When you have the option you should avoid letting people make your decisions for you.

Voice acting was terrible in the demo. Flat, wooden, and annoying as far as the Hawke scenes go. However, the dialogue wheel I liked and the combat was an improvement from the first game.

I agree. I beated the game on Nightmare without the Warden ever dying. But the point I was trying to make is that with the new speed+closing in attack you can hit and run without the ogre ever hitting you. At least in Origins, you had to use skills, and slug it out with the opponent. In the demo the ogre chased my Mage, which outran it easily. I just thought that is isn't necessarily ideal that you can use hit-and-run tactics in such a way.

Edit: And while the "Dragon Age 2 is Hack&Slash!" idea is wrong, the game DOES give out such a feel, even if it is a RPG/Action-RPG.

I just had that one templar woman tank the thing. Activated her one skill that reduced her attack and how much damage she received, then had her use taunt. Let my warrior and other mage kill at their leisure while occasionally healing the tank.
