There are a lot of places they could drop the ball but there's also not a whole lot of things that will be important over the three-game arc. It might not even be a trilogy maybe? Anyway I liked DA2 well enough, it had some parts that were great improvements over DA:O problems, so I hope they take the meatier parts that made DA:O engaging but keep the shiny aesthetic improvements of DA2 as if it were the best DA:O patch evar.
It's not a trilogy. That's one of the points Bioware likes to bring up regarding the Origins from the first game, and why they weren't in DA2 (and why they are seemingly reluctant to go back to them, despite fan feedback). Origins enabled the player to learn a great deal about Thedas via the six different origin stories. It was a good way to introduce the world. And since it is not a trilogy, Bioware has no problem with ditching Hawke as the protagonist for DA3 (Fox approves +10).

I've put my trust in Bioware. With only the little hiccup with Mass Effect 3, they're a solid company. It looks like they're keeping the same writers/designers with a cool visual platform. I'm excited. I might even pre-order. That's happened only twice. Battlefield 3 and Mass Effect 3.

Simple question, tell me one game with better inbuilt AA then ubersampling? that's all i'm asking...
I am one of those who don't like Ubersampling, as it washes out detail.
And even if Ubersampling wasn't just all blurry, what good is it when the trees in that game look like we're still in 2006?

As a reminder, this is what woods looked like back in 2007: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DaZhv50VIQ
And here is the Witcher 2 (2011): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPVunjCIJsI (try to look past the dramatic lighting)

As for facial (or even just body) animations:

Half Life 2 (2004): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwxKtkiZf38
The Witcher 2 (2011): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ue1lKErM9W4

It's ridiculous!

Witcher 2 is probably the best-looking RPG so far, though prettified Skyrim is a tough contender, but foliage and animations are still not even 2007's state of the art.

sweet merciful gods of games i hope they dont recycle the same dungeons with stone slabs in doorways and such like dragon age 2. Gods i couldnt stand it. So much potential. I used to think Bioware couldnt do wrong. Then DA2 happened and while i played it and even enjoyed it i wasnt as happy with it as i could have been. Then mass effect 3. where everything was glorious till the end....i mean what the hell? nevertheless. i really really really hope this is more in line with their history of awesome games instead of the zombified mess that bioware seems to be now a days from ea's mindflayer like tentacles stuck in their creativity

Captcha:braaaains!.....clever girl knew what i would post

Well too bad for you regarding ubersampling, it's state of the art tech wether you like it or not.
Well, DirectX 11 is state of the art tech too, that doesn't mean every DX11 game looks better than every DX9 game. Just because CPR included a supersampling method into their engine doesn't make it state of the art.

Open world games tend to have lower detail due to map size
Crysis is pretty open world too. I'm not saying Witcher 1 should've looked like Crysis, but by 2013, I'd hope that Dragon Age 3 will at least try to come close.

The Witcher 2 can have unnatural exagerated body movement on cutscenes (maybe due to having to animate different versions, but i don't know), but i think they are ok on facial for the most part.
"Okay", that is a fitting word. But HL2 was better in 2-0-0-4. Once again, CPR cannot be expected to animate everything to that standard, I'm always baffled how these little devs can make AAA games like that anyway (like Piranha Bytes with Gothic).
But in 2013, a boy can dream that game studio behemoth Bioware will try to catch up with a then 9-year-old game.
