At first I thought perhaps it was just me since I have never seen anyone else mention it, but after verifying I had taken my medicine as prescribed I feel compelled to mention it.
Blood Mages. Dragon Age created the whole Blood Mage concept, and then they dedicated no small amount of play time clueing the the player into the all important details. Things like you can control peoples minds, its universally feared, etc etc... Then they actually let the player adopt the specialization if they are mage. Now I don't misunderstand me, I applaud this move because honestly after hearing about Blood Magic the first thing I wanted to do was slit my wrists and summon demons from the Fade.
What stuck out like a sore thumb was the feeling that the ability to pick the Blood Mage specialization was shoe horned in at the last moment. You can pick the specialization for yourself or any other mage in your party, but nothing in the game seems to account for this. Characters and dialog choices remained ignorant of the fact that you yourself had chosen to practice the dark arts. In Origins I just sort of let it go and chalked it up to an oversight. Then Awakenings was released and again it was the same thing. Blood magic is evil, all Blood Mages must die etc etc... and no regard is given to whether you are actually a practicing Blood Mage.
Now with Dragon Age II the Blood Mage specialization remains unnoticed. It actually seems somewhat worse in the latest game with dialog choices that allow you to outright condemn the practice as a whole without any sort of acknowledgement of the blood on your own hands. It feels like they really missed the opportunity to take advantage of customizing dialog to the players choices.
Why is it I haven't seen anyone else bring this up? Am I the only one that was a little frustrated at this missed opportunity for the 3rd time?
