I havn't passed the starting area yet but it already bored the shit out of me.
If someone can claim that the game gets better I might play it again.

EDIT: 24th hundred post ftw ^^
I can't say the game gets better, honestly. The combat system remains unchanged throughout - the only improvements is you gradually have more options for dispatching your foes. The story is one you have heard a thousand times before and if it doesn't grip you early then it likely never will.

Personally, I love the game. I honestly wish there were a lot more of the game to be had. Considering that my first play through lasted more than 60 hours, wanting more to do is high praise. That said, I know full well that Dragon Age is not the game for everyone and have been relucant to recommend it to friends because of this.

The WRPG is a rare genre, Dragon Age is a step in the right direction and I want more games to play, so I'm going to be selfish and recommend the game to a complete stranger asking for advice.

Dragon Age is awesome! Buy today!
What's funny is that it's not really a step in the right direction. Instead it's a resurrection of the old Infinity Engine style of games. But since it's been a long time now since we last had one of those, a lot of the new batch of gamers are kind of unaware of their existence. They are just now realizing how ridiculously awesome they are with Dragon Age: Origins. The classics will always be the best.
Sure, but I won't replay BG2 or planescape for the billionth time. Sometimes/mosttimes gamers want something they haven't played already yet.
Compared to NWN2, FO3, DD2 and other recent RPGs, DA:O IS a step in the right direction.
Oh, I absolutely agree, but I'm just saying that it's funny that a game that thrives on more old school RPG concepts turned out vastly better than most other RPGs out these days.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't care for NWN. Personally, I loved Icewind Dale, if only because I played it before Baldur's Gate for some insane reason.

And, I'd honestly sit down and play Planescape: Torment again if they shoved it into the DA:O engine and did some voice work. It wasn't my favorite RPG of all time, but it was probably the best. That may seem like a contradiction, but such are my feelings on the game.

Try to become involved with morrigan....the result was one of the most heartbreaking endings ever...We were good friends...lovers i did all her side quests....

Only in the end for to ask to have my baby so that the archdemons soul would be absorbed by it and spare my life...Oh yea the kid would be fine but she left and i never got to see her or my baby...

Or i could kill it myself and die...

Or let someone else kill it but morrigan leaves anyway...
You...you...SPOILED IT FOR MEEEEE!

I think I just messed my pants a little at the thought of a completely updated Planescape: Torment.

Once you get used to it it gets better. But if you're not into RPGs/fantasy you're probabaly not going to like this fantasy RPG

Sorry to push in, but just because something's old doesn't mean it's amazing and there's nothing wrong with these old things have their good parts ripped out and placed into new games.

Oh no, that is definitely not what I'm saying. I'm absolutely thrilled to see the return of the old style RPGs. Sure they weren't perfect, but that's the really awesome part of marrying them to new tech, you can improve on them and make the whole experience even better. Believe me, if Dragon Age was alive, I'd take it out to dinner and cap off the night by singing "I wanna make love to you woman!" while wearing a chef hat.
