Fun fact: I just got GoW2 for the first time, sat down, and beat it in one go. Does that mean I'm gonna go WORST FECKN GAME EVAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! rage over it? No. Everyone plays at a different pace. If you blow through games quickly, and don't feel replaying it is good enough for you, play MMOs.
Gears 2 or God of War 2?
Gears. On hard. Some of the shit on the higher difficulties is rediculous
off topic i have ALWAYS hated the driving sections in both games on insane..good god, either i am AWFUL on driving shooters or that part is supposed to be harder than the rest of the game, because it always takes me at least 5 tries for each driving level/section. i loathe those in those games..otherwise i love those games =]

Alright, after just now finishing DAII, I can see where a lot of the hate comes from. But instead of making a big long list, I think one thing that many people have glossed over should be pointed out more frequently;

Even playing on Hard, DAII, a $60 full game, takes barely a few more hours more (2/3) to complete than DA: Awakenings, a $15-$25 (depending on when/where you got it), an expansion for DA:O.

Why in the hell does a full sequel game take almost the same amount of time to complete as a simple expansion to it's predecessor?
Orly?

Funny, takes me some 16 or more hours to complete by doing everything, and on my (now third) playthough I'm finding there's even more I've missed out on.

That's a fairly decent length in my opinion.

This has to be a speed run doing only story missions and skipping dialogue/cut-scenes. You could get through either Mass Effect game, and even the first game in a short enough time like that.

Even then, 2-3 hours? Unless you're using some metric way of time measurement, I call shenanigans.

*facepalm*
It wouldn't be 'metric' unless it really was only 2-3 hours.
Ignoring the fact that a metric time measurement doesn't exist, the metric system is used on scientific scales for a reason.
Accuracy.

You're not too familiar with written cynicism, are you? I'm honestly surprised you thought I was serious about that.

But all that aside, the fact that the OP's saying that he/she beat the game in 2-3 hours just sounds ludicrous.

Don't worry I got it, but you replied before I did.

Nice to see someone else who understands tone of voice, on the internet no less!

To stay on topic, I stand by my notion: I think the OP is talking sideways for the sake of argument. 8-10 hours I can believe, but 2-3? No way.

We later find out he means 2/3 of the time for DA:O, and that he played 18 hours with skipping Merrill and Bone Pit on hard and not hitting level 20. So there is intentional skipping as well as what I suspect is accidental skipping of content.

I'm pretty sure I'm at at 8 hours on mine(could have sworn I had more time in) and my GF is at 27 hours on hers. Where I have just hit level 9 on my characters and have not started the Deep Roads expedition, I have no idea where my GF is right now as I am at work but I'll be editing this when I get the info from her.

Edit: She is at level 20 and thinks she is just about at the end of the game.

...

He said 2-3 hours LONGER THAN Awakenings.

You misread. He actually completed it in 18 hours.

Dead Space 2 took me 8 hours to complete on a difficulty above normal... It cost me 60 bucks and it still was one of the best games I've played the last couple of years.

It's not about length it's about gir... I mean quality.
It took me 5 hours to complete on Zealot. =D

And of course you're right, it all depends on the style of the player. I searched every room in Dead Space 2 and still managed to finish in 5 1/2 hours. Of course that maybe because I already know most of the Necro's weak spots.

Hey we got ourselves another DA thread, yaay :D

OT: They only had one year to develop DA2, and considering they were still doing things for DA:O maybe it didn't even leave them a year, just a downfall of yearly releases, all thanks to our buddy EA :D

They have multiple teams working on things at the same time. So I am very sure they had more than a year behind DA2

Can't you just let me believe it's the time table fault, that they will still turn back and make good stuff, that they will stop drinking and beating the kids... :(

Nope, I thrive on other peoples misery, especially when I actually enjoyed the game and they didn't. It really does have about the same length as DA:O and sure it doesn't have a huge overwhelmingly epic plot, but it's setting up for the inevitable third installment.

Once you have the whole bundle in hand you won't be disappointed.

Valid point.

DA:O is longer. The Origins give DA:O a bit more replay value also.
Both games are padded, DA:O with trash mobs and DA2 with frequently reused areas, so that's not the reason for it.
Maybe someone could actually quantify the actual amount of content in some way, then we'd have a true comparison.

I don't know what your talking about. I just finished the Deep Roads quest, and that's after twelve hours of play.

So to you 30 hours is a expansionpack? You make no sense.
My thoughts exactly, also can you believe how short the Fable 3 Understone DLC was?
