I really don't like the huge pile of day one DLC they've stuffed into Dragon Age Inquisition, though so far it's no DLC character and just cosmetic stuff and pretty starter weapons.

But as an occasional collector's edition buyer I have to reluctantly admit that it does look like it'd make for a splendid addition to my collection - thanks to all the physical goods.

So now I'm torn between my hate for day one DLC and desire to add this to my collection... damn you Bioware! Damn you! But then again, it's not available in Europe yet so it's not really an issue atm.

I still need more info that tells me if the game itself will be good, and not just pretty graphics, before I'm willing to part with my money. Call me crazy, but I just like knowing what I get before I pay for it, and I'm not spending money on what could be a buggy mess of a game, butchered up and sold as DLC (which sadly is a possible scenario - we are, after all, dealing with EA here).

Odds are of course in favor that the game itself is good, as their Dragon Age installment have all been entertaining, but it's still EA we're dealing with - so by now I've come to expect the worse. Like DLC characters, because Bioware fucking loves those and EA is saying there's more to be announced.

I'd damn near be willing to bet my beard on that it's going to be a DLC character, just like in Dragon Age: Origins, Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age 2, and Mass Effect 3.

Dragon Age Origins was one of my favorite games in the past decade, but DA2 was simply too much of a burn to preorder this.
The worst part was it was a slow burn...I didn't realize how much I hated it until chapter 2.

I absolutely want to believe this is a good game and the longer development cycle is a very good sign. If multiple reviewers from both high visibility sites and fan forums review it favorably, AND report it doesn't make the same mistakes as DA2, I will gladly pay the full $60+DLC, but I can't take a leap of faith like that.

And please Escapist, give the review to someone other than Greg Tito. I don't mind that he liked DA2, but his tastes are pretty far removed from the RPG fans (read: me) that compose the core demographic that will/could keep the series viable.

You see I like Dragon Age II, I know it's not a popular opinion but to quote my favourite character from Dragon Age II
"Opinions are like testicles. You kick them hard enough, doesn't matter how many you got"

All I want is that sweet sweet cloth map. No way in hell will I be paying 170 for it.

I DO have an the urge to pre-order then I think, "oh, dragon age II", and the urge is suppressed. Both games (DA:O DAII) are bundled on sale for $12 on amazon now, so that's how much the content will eventually be priced (def worth it).

Bah. I want it. I really really want it. Gods I really hope to god I get a job within a week so I can spend money on this. But then it's £130. And £130 could be something like 3 weeks worth of food. And food is important. So is just living in general. But that game and all those nice things would make me happy too. Bah! I want it! It looks so great!

I never really understand this kind of collector's edition.

I'm as obsessive as the next bloke, but my obsession is all about owning as many games as possible (regardless of whether or not I have time to complete them or not). I look at the 130 pounds price tag and think I could get 3 or 4 day one releases, or god knows how many older games.

Perhaps this explains my generally relaxed attitude to game quality; I agreed with most people that Dragon Age 2 wasn't great, but I didn't see any point getting angry about it. On refection that's probably because I bought it a year after release for 15 pounds. If I'd paid ten times that much, I guess I'd be a lot more pissed...
