I have two mages so far, first was a Rift Mage which I really enjoyed. I like being the guy at the back who can control the flow of the battlefield but also bring the pain when needed.

Today I tried a Knight Enchanter with my other mage and it was great, killed a Dragon with little trouble but I think I will load a previous save and pick necro or Rift again. I don't like being the guy at the front and tbh KE just felt TOO powerfull. All the challange went out of the game.

Tried an Archer but got bored (but thank you to anyone who posted in my Are Archers fun thread) so I never got far enough for a spec class.

Was going to put a poll but the poll is too small.

Templar. Kind of sub-standard against bandits and other trivial mobs, but OP as hell against demons and undead. Half her abilities are I-Win buttons.

from what I've seen/heard, knight enchanters are the most OP class as of now.

I went assassin for my first playthrough, it wasn't bad but I didn't min/max the specs, just played through the game having fun. I'm sure with certain rings/item abilities added it could be alot more devastating than I made the class, but I did enjoy the toxic bomb/death blow combos. my class worked best when I was trying to status effect as many people as possible and I was the cleanup crew, death blowing all the baddies in a row who were half dead seemed to work best.

started a second playthrough, going for the reaver sword & shield class this time around, I'll see if it is OP like the knight enchanters class or just pretty good.

I am playing as a hand-to-hand rogue, and I picked Assassin. Haven't used the Focus ability yet, but I have been using that one where you throw a knife and then like six clones attack all at once. It's a nice damage dealer, and I don't have to get in close to use it.

Next time I'm using the Knight Enchanter (that's Vivi's, right?) because I want to freaking HEAL! I miss healing spells, and I especially miss that healing aura from the first game.

I went with Champion. I've got a 2H warrior and I can just straight up walk into the middle of the biggest fight you can see and laugh. The Walking Fortress abillity makes you immune to all damage for 8 seconds, the focus builds up all your guard and counters every melee attack. I can build a wall to block enemies, and to top it all off if my guard falls, my Walking Fortress ability isn't ready yet and I almost lose all my health I have a passive that keeps me immune from all damage for a short period of time which gives me a chance to heal.

Yes it has a heal but it is powered by focus. My advice is to make sure you have a save just before you get KE. It really is basicly god mode. I managed to solo a dragon at level 13 and I did not even lose one section of health. It took all the challenge out of the game for me.

From a gameplay pov I agree about missing healing. From a lore pov I don't mind too much as A: healing with magic is ment to be difficult so it makes sense that not everyone can do it and B: It retroactively makes my Warden even more badass because, in my head anyway, the fact the he could heal in battle makes him an Einstein or da vinci of magic.

My first character was a Mage Necromancer. IMO the best thing about the class was the passive self-heals. Virulent Walking Bomb is a nice spell and when timed right results in lots of explosions. There is a spell to bring enemies back to life when they die, but half the time they don't actually fight; that's if I could actually get them to die when they spell is on them.

My second character is a Rogue Assassin. At level 13 he just feels like a Rogue. The style of play doesn't change at all. I'm just able to go into stealth more frequently and I get a nice ranged attack that I mostly use to keep critters. It's powerful, but not game changing.

Knight Enchanter, because wielding a sword made out of magic is very enticing

Was a bonus that it turns you into a demigod, realized this about the time I started killing dragons without losing any health

2 handed Warrior Reaver.

I fucking loved it.

Heal over half my health in a single attack then lay out thousands of points of damage the instant heal again.

Using a Mastercraft with my Rampage tier 3 made me kill the final boss like nothing and a dragon as well

Knight-Enchanter.

I can make a magic sword.

Done.

(And I add the rest of this so that I won't get flagged for having little content.)

I ended up going sword and board (well, it was axe and board for most of the game) with the Champion specialization. I wasn't doing a ton of damage but nothing at all could even come close to killing me. Between Walking Fortress where hits didn't cause any damage and the skills that gave you Guard every time you got hit, I was basically invincible.

Best skill in the game though? The chain grab move. I wish it worked on more enemies but, damn, that move is so satisfying.

I went Rift Mage with my first game for I wanted to try something different and it sounded like a lot of people were going Knight-Enchanter, well that and I couldn't resist a trainer named "Your Trainer". I had fun with it, but I did wind up going Knight-Enchanter with my Nightmare character because I got frustrated trying to play a Warrior at the start and figured something that is considered powerful might make it feel like less of a grind.

First tried out Knight enchanter because Arcane Warrior 2.0 was too much to resist. But then I realized that it really was OP as all hell. That ability that converts damage into barrier energy just literally makes you un-killable. Granted KE not nearly as OP if you skip that ability, but even then the combat of KE just doesn't really offer much in terms of variety.

So I went with Rift Mage. I'm usually not the type that likes to lead from the rear but the amount of combinations that rift mage allows won me over in the end. Though granted it is a pain whenever i run into an enemy that's immune to weaken or any physical disabling effects and there is also the "Weakness" and "Pull of the abyss" bugs

I went with Tempest on my stabby rogue (mostly because the Assassin quest bugged out and I couldn't make the Murder Knife, but I digress...) and my conclusion was Fun, but Not Practical. I liked the effects of the elemental flasks, but they felt too short, and I didn't want to give over three of my eight ability slots just to keep the flow going, so I kinda abandoned the whole thing. I will say this, though: every time I used the Focus ability, I laughed like a drunken loon. It's a Murder Everything button with an awesome animation; I used it on the level 23 dragon while I was level 22 and took out about a fifth of its health.

Knight Enchanter.
Played AW in Origins, so I was eager to relive the old glory days. That's before I realized how OP and bland it makes everything afterwards... If I could reroll, I'd take anything else.

I'd do Tempest/Assa Rogue next time around.

Rogue Archer Artificer - Focus skill is THE definition of burst damage , upgraded Throw Everything is difficult to use correctly but when it hits it HITS.

That one is fun. Flashy, impressive and deals lots of damage (if you have the right weapons). But it isn't where the strength of the assassin lies. For that, you want Mark of Death. Properly setting it up, i can easily deal over 10k damage with a single press of a button.

Do you have the final skill yet? Complete game changer.

I don't see how people are talking about killing Dragons at level 14 or lower with a knight enchanter, I'm sure it's possible but on anything apart from armor you're only doing 500ish damage with each swing so doesn't it get boring? As for me I went with Dagger assassin, quite alot of fun since you carn't take many hits and you have to time all the abilities to get the best out of them. I'm sure it's possible to get over 100,000 damage with it's top tier ability but the best I've managed so far is 72,000
