It's gotta be the moment when Vegeta shows up so he can distract Cell just long enough for him and Gohan to double-team Cell to oblivion. Better yet, there's a Guile's Theme Goes with Everything of it!

well there is every scene with vegeta, the first time Goku goes SSJ, whe gohan goes SSJ2 against cell and for a more specific scene, when vegeta fights with everything he has against majin buu knowing he is no match but realises whats important to him and when he goes all out against kid buu and despite being beaten to a pulp and potentially ceasing to exist he continues to fight to buy goku time. vegeta was just the best character ever, no one fought as hard or suffered as much as him (ok alot of his suffering was due to pride but thats what made him vegeta)

Dragonball Z is awful, Dragonball Kai however is AMAZING. Favorite scene? Everything they didn't remove is my favorite.

Edit: Dragon Ball Kai is an edit where they took out all the filler.

Vegeta helping Gohan kill Cell. It's really the moment where Vegeta goes from seeing enemies as just another challenge for a Saiyan Warrior to face alone to actually being a real threat to the people he's come to care about, so he tosses aside the notion of a warrior's honor and helps the son of his rival save the Earth. Up until that point the only reason he fought was for his own survival and for the challenge.

Gohan.
Atomising.
Cell.

I know it technically took the power of everyone on Earth to kill Buu, but it was in such an anonymous fashion (spirit bomb) that it felt like MORE of a collaborative effort when all the Z-Fighters throwing everything they had to distract Cell.

The series could have ended there, in fact I think Toriyama wanted to end it there (though he wanted to end it all through Z I believe). Goku was dead and wanted to stay dead, Gohan had surpassed him and the mantle had been passed... as had Piccolo's. :p

Excluding Goku going Super Saiyan for the first time, one of them is Vegeta finally aknowledge Goku is superior to him-
I found that a heartfelt moment since back then it something I would never expect Vegeta would ever do. This in turn adde more dept to Vegeta aswell (pride and being violent won't get you far).
Man, there is so much depth to Vegeta (and Goku, for that matter) already that you could write a whole academic journal about it. The Vegeta/Goku conflict throughout Z are fantastic, and I think its peak, at the return to the World Tournament arena, is one of the most well constructed scenes in animated storytelling.
And shortly thereafter:

Just the fact that the entire plot of these multiple series hinges on the fact that Goku suffered brain damage as a child.

I'm sorry, but whenever I think of DragonBall/Z, that's the point I keep coming back to.
No they dont? That just made him forget he was a saiyan and become less violent. It was just a way to continue onto Z.
But everything revolves around Goku not being evil. I mean, if he had been evil, someone on Earth would have had to stop him, right? And he wouldn't have probably bothered to kill Freeza. But if he did, then he would have left Earth, and Earth would have been taken over by Piccolo or Cell or what have you, and the entire cast as we know it simply wouldn't be without him, being so incredibly good-natured and pretty damn thick.

I preferred Dragon Ball, because I started watching it AFTER I had seen almost all of Z, and I got to see Goku and Krillin train with Master Roshi and learn the Kamehameha. Plus the rest of the "Z Fighters" aren't useless punching bags. They actually kicked ass on occasion. Wolf-Fang Fist was a hardcore move for a minute.

My favorite moment is at the end of the Cell saga, Cell is dead and the tournament is over. Future Trunks has his final farewell and returns to his own time...

...and then...

Of course, Trunks introduction was also a favorite of mine when I was younger...no monologue, no dialogue, just this;

Yeah...Trunks is a bad ass
Well Future Trunks is. Regular Trunks is a bit of a douche.

More seriously when Goku dominates Nappa. Just pure awesome. Vegeta vs Recoome was awesome too because even though he lost out in power, it was so cool seeing the epitome of badass using all his strength.
