Apoligies if this has been suggested before but.

I had this idea for an "alternate/what if scenario" for Dragon Ball Z where what if Planet Vegeta was never destroyed and Goku never left for Earth and he lives his life on Planet Vegeta?

I think that would be an interesting concept to tackle. Or does it sound too Fanficcy?

Apoligies to the moderators of the forums I merely "bumped" this thread to see if it would now appear on the forums because for some reason Its not showing at all in the "Off-Topic Discussion" and I just made this thread a few minutes ago.

EDIT: Now the thread appears on the forums. Probably a bug in the forums.

As one of the biggest Dragon Ball fans on the site, I ask: What would be the point? How would Goku living on Planet Vegeta change anything? Half the reason he grew into the strong warrior he became is his time on Earth. Besides, he'd be Kakarot, not the character we know and love. He'd be little more than a brute who picks on those weaker than him. That is until Frieza destroys the planet. And sending Kakarot to Earth pretty much just ends with him killing everyone on Earth.

However, if you're interested in these sort of what-if scenarios, you should check out Dragon Ball Multiverse. It's a fan based web comic that follows the story after the end of DBZ (the writer hates GT) and involves the characters fighting in a tournament with 20 other universes.

And it's not based on the upcoming Super story arc. It actually predates that and Super Saiyan God, so Beerus and such don't exist in the series.

That's what I would find interesting to explore as in ElseWorlds story mind you. And I also had this idea of how him being "Kakarot" would play out.

Like I had this fantasy where he starts off as a completely low class warrior, treated like second class citizens and after a great many events Kakarot becomes the first Super Sayian. And the look on King Vegeta, his son's and the Elite Class' face.

Just me, I would say that this story already exists. Seriously, an old Superman comic titled: "for the man who has everything" is pretty-much that exact story. Except replace Superman with Goku (so not much difference at all).

Having said that, would I pay for a Goku "what if" story like that? Yeah I likely would.

I doubt you'll end up seeing a canon or official version of this in manga or whatnot but chances are the Saiyans wouldn't have become as strong as Goku and Vegeta had after it's destruction.
If Raditz was considered elite it would probably mean any of the major threats of the universe would have little to no impact from the Saiyans.

Total fanfic territory not that it's a bad concept.

To entertain the idea further;
Goku wouldn't stand out.
Vegeta might eventually challenge his father to rule the planet.
Raditz is the abusive older brother.
Nappa leads the Saiyans in wars against other planets.
No Super Saiyans realized legend.
Freiza ignores the Saiyans (because in this universe, he simply doesn't kill them all).

Maybe, eventually, they start a war against Freiza and win and take over the universe. It would make sense that Bardock survives and is in this universe so at some point he may want his two sons for special training for some big major challenge(designed for plot purposes). Maybe to invade Namek for the Dragonballs? Wish to become Super Saiyans to fight Freiza.
Nappa is killed by Zarbon/Dodoria, Vegeta is held captive as a prisoner to incite the war because he was 'rude' or some nonsense that would irk Freiza or just to torment him with disrespect to his pride.
Raditz dies and Goku triggers his SSJ form because he has deep and buried respect and love for his brother no longer requiring the need for the Dragonballs to wish for it.
SSJ Goku kills Freiza, they use the wish to bring back Vegeta (because he was killed in captivity or something).
Dragon 'teaches' all the Saiyans how to SSJ with the next wish.

Saga #2: Civil war.
Because a 'low class' Saiyan becomes the Super Saiyan of legend, all low class warriors take on the high class and elite (Hunger Games? lol).
It would definitely rewrite the caste and class system the Saiyans use. Eventually Vegeta/Goku would fight after Vegeta also learns to turn SSJ and claims to be a "real" SSJ. Goku wins, naturally.

Saga #3: They learn of Earth's dragonballs and the ex-royal/elite/high class Saiyans want to bring back Vegeta. They take over Earth, Vegeta marries Bulma, Trunks is born and trained. Goku has a daughter instead of Gohan.
Trunks and Chichi Jr. (whatever you want to call her. Kakarootabaga. lol) fall in love. Shakespearian Romeo / Juliet story is ripped off. Everyone dies.

And done.

http://www.dragonball-multiverse.com/en/page-580.html

It's not exactly what you said, but close.
It's still what if Goku never became Goku and stayed as Kakarot, plus the consequences it would have.

I would recommended reading the entire fanfic from the start, there's over 1000 chapters at the moment and the style is spot on. Enjoy.

I supposed it would be an interesting world building since we only know the Sayians via the lore but other than that, meh.

I'm more interested in this other fancomic that TeamFourStar mention what if Vegeta and Goku role were which as in what if Vegeta was the one that got send to Earth and Goku was under Freiza ship when their planet were destroy?

From what I've heard, both fighters were ALOT stronger than the original counterpart since Vegeta would had known love and friendship that Goku had while Goku would had known Vegeta hardship living under Freiza.

I assume you're not talking about Multiverse. Never heard of this other fan-comic. But I would be interested in reading it. Got a link?

Also, if you haven't checked out Multiverse, you should. It's over 1,000 pages now (averages about three pages a week), and has some interesting fights and story. Though, the writer does take some liberties. It's mostly to make certain noncanon things make more sense and more in line with the manga. It seems he ignores most of the movies as most of them don't fit in the story at all. And the ones he does use, he tends to make small changes so that they fit in the actual story, like with the Cooler movie.

Okay, after looking over the link, I gotta say I am impressed. The artist is able to mimic Toriyama's style perfectly. It looks like he actually worked on it. And even without translation I was able to see that he had Vegeta's personality perfect.

I actually looked a bit and found some translations of some pages. Unfortunately the translation were below the images so you had to use the context to know which panel they were in. And it looked more like exerts from it rather than the whole thing, but it only served to better illustrate how good the artist is.

Best part of the translated scans was the 23rd Budokai moment where Mercenary Tao Pai takes Bulma hostage. Vegeta saves her and then we get this exchange.

Vegeta: "Well, well. Bulma! Don't you have enough of villains capturing you?"
Bulma: "What? That's my fault now?"
Vegeta: "Really... If you want me to protect you that bad, you might as well belong to me."
Bulma: "Huh? Is that a proposal?"
Vegeta: "Huh?"
Bulma: "Well... Okay!"
Vegeta: "Hey!"
Referee: "What do you know! Contestant Vegeta got married!"
Vegeta: "Yeah, yeah..."

Cut to Yamcha crying.
