Wii and Wii U versions, kinda of an MMO, but also offline, 2012 release (Wonder what that means for the U.S. and U.K. releases?), possible 3DS compatibility, developed internally (First Dragon Quest ever done so) and tons more at the link. Footage is probably around too, since this whole thing was streamed. Anyone else excited? I love the Dragon Quest series (III on GBC was one of my first RPG's and IX is one of my favorite DS games), so I'm pretty hyped, although I'm kinda worried about Square Enix making it themselves, I love Level-5's work with the series.

Yeah, I see a simultaneous release for this and Final Fantasy Versus XIII...

I think FFV13 is the only FF game I've ever actually wanted... I'd still get DQX first though, if only because I have a great amount of nostalgia for that series.

Seriously, I haven't played IX, but DQ VIII is one of my favorite PS2 RPGs. At the same time, I'm a bit uneasy with level 5 not being involved. Then again, Squeenix is starting to get back on form with the Kingdom Hearts series, as well as Dissidia Final Fantasy.

I love VIII too, probably my favorite PS2 RPG as well, but I haven't played that much.

So, it seems the guy at the head of this also worked on Nier. I hear Nier is pretty good, or at least has a rabid cult following. That seems good. Still surprises me they went the online route considering the Wii's less than ideal online, hopefully Wii U is better at...

EDIT: Looks like the game might have a usage fee for the online component...
