I am by no means a DBZ fanboy, in fact I haven't even seen many of the episodes.
But by god, this is a travesty. What is the opinion of the escapist community on this movie?

Actually, I prefer the term 'DragonBall Whore' and SIGH, I'm really not looking forward to this.

I heard they were doing it and sulked, found out James Marsters was playing Piccolo which softened the blow of them potentially ruining it and then saw I all the photographs and dug a hole in my garden to stick my head for a few months.

Why is Piccolo white? Are they trying to avoid plain coloured skin looking crap on film like they did with Nightcrawler and Mystique in X-Men (gave 'em scales and shit to liven it up).

I hope this flops and it prevents them from milking 10 live action films out of the DBZ universe.

I think Speilberg started this thing off with his acquisition of the Ghost in the Shell films, which he has free reign to remake in any way he sees fit.

I'm pretty sure the actor who played hellboy wasn't red, but that didn't stop them.
And i know there were no saiyans, which just backs up my point that they shouldn't have made the movie at all. Who wants to see some shitty live action Dragonball? What was wrong with the cartoon? At last if you had some saiyans there would have been some action film type interest.

At the minimum. It could get even worse... POPULAR SINGERS WHO CAN"T ACT!!!!.

THEN it would be the worst thing since the plague, and that's only worse because it involved rats.

I'm probably going to see it... Not expecting it to be anything like the source material, but at worst, it could be mildly entertaining. In a mindnumbing, all-action-no-thought, Daredevil, Transformers kind of way.

To me it seems like they're starting at the beginning of Dragonball, they'll do a few films of this and THEN move to the DragonBall Z sagas with all the Saiyans and maybe even go past that and go onto the DragonBall GT sagas.

I hope they don't get any further than this first film, Mari Trunks (my avatar) is my favourite character of the series and he doesn't come into it until a third of the way through DBZ. Hopefully they'll sink with the failboat well before this point and I won't see the other characters shit upon too.
