I did like Bill and Ted tough...
And yeah the movie might have some kind of stupid kung-fu quality to it.

So did I... We should feel bad. But I can see the movie not bombing, but they'd have to work really hard on the script etc.

I personally don't mind Keanu that much. I like quite a few of his films to be honest. Was just thinking about it and I think he'd suit Vegeta (imo). Not early Vegeta when he's in charge and all bad-ass, but the 'good' Vegeta, the sulky Vegeta who just bitches at Goku and then jumps into the fights and says very little.

Would prefer it not get to that, but just a thought.

I dunno about you guys, but I think The Rock would make a great Nappa. Just sayin'.
HAHAHAHA. That's actually true. The Rock is rather good I must say.

My theory was that the final fight scene of Matrix: Revolutions was built to test market how people would react to a live action Dragonball.

Also, to everyone who seems confused, I'll break it down for you:

Neither Dragonball nor DBZ are what could be called "good" stories, but the original Dragonball is head and shoulders above its follow-up as far as a real storyline goes, and if they had to make one into a movie, that it the correct choice.

Yeah, I actually like a lot of the stuff he's been in. If it gets to the point that Vegeta and Nappa arrive on Earth, I want to see him as Nappa.

... And Danny DeVito as Vegeta. Nah, I'm joshin'. It'd be funny, though.

That worked for me because I'd heard by that point that they were making a DragonBall film and I felt a little relieved that someone had already made a decent looking flying-fight scene.

Funny you should mention that, as I said exact same thing to the mrs not 5 minutes ago :D

I seriously cannot fathom a single way they can condense over seven hundred or so episodes into possibly three differeny trilogies.

DBZ:
First Movie - Raditz, Nappa, Vegeta, Ginyu Force, Frieza's Henchman, Frieza
Second Movie - Future Trunks killing Frieza, Androids, Cell Games
Third Movie - Buu

On second thought it could work on a cheesy Mortal Kombat Annihalation level.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo! But you're right, they'll try and cram so much into each film and it will be overly rushed, diluted donkey balls! i.e. ANY comic book converted to live action film :(

*chants* flop flop flop flop flop!

Even if the movies were four hours long each it'd be hard to fathom.
4 Hours wouldn't even be enough (imo) to cover the initial Saiyan Saga.

Its gonna be a pile of shite in all honesty...

A white picolo sums it all up. That and have you seen what master roshi looks like? Plus, its about a teenage Goku, whos going to school and having trouble with being unpopular and...oh my god what is this crap? They've turned it into an action/romance/teen comedy? :(

If anyone was going to play Vegeta, it would have to be Russel Crowe, Brian Blessed or Gerald Butler. I don't think many other people could pull of the ANGER involved.

This is going to make the Mario Bros movie look good.

Isn't Goku's special ability that he transforms into a blond, blue eyed white guy? What's the problem, he just stays Super Saiyan the whole flick.

AND the Van-Dam Street Fighter II film! :(

If it was Russell Crow for Vegeta, he'd HAVE to act exactly the same as he does in the South Park episode with him in. Extra Anger! haha

"OI! Goku, what the hell do ya think you're doing interrupting my blood-thirsty-vengeance monologue? Take this ya scrotum! FINAL FLASH!"

But it'd be more than enough to cover the Namek saga, if they trim all the filler, and stick to advancing the plot. i.e. Not having the planet 5 minutes away from exploding for 3 hours. >:)

Actually I think Vin Diesel might make a good Vegeta.

Jesus tap dancing Christ... animes shouldent be made live action, ever! that defeats the purpose of a Anime to begin with
fanboy much? What, pray-tell, is the exact "purpose" for making it an anime to begin with? Seriously, I would love to know this all encompassing motivation.

One of the primary reasons for the larger use of animation in Japanese productions is for the practical reason that there is not the space in Japan for large production studios to accommodate actors and special effects and lighting.

Another of the reasons is the translation from the comic form. The exact same reason Batman and X-men have animated transitions to television.

That's only two of a handful, and neither of those reasons would be de-validated by a live action movie translation.

There is also the reality that making an animated series live action makes it more accessible to theatre going audiences. An anime movie that is released in anime style is only going to attract an audience of fans that already exists. Anyone else is going to think "fanboy" or "kiddie". If you want examples of this being successfully applied, consider any super-hero movie.
