All the DB series got a little repetitive after a bit.

IMO it goes like this.....

Dragonball

Dragonball Kai

That is all.

Kai took the worst crap out of DBZ (including the entire Buu saga and years of filler) and distilled the show back to what it should have been. A worthy following of Goku's story into his adult years.

Quick! Everyone talk about how getting rid of all the bad parts of DBZ makes Kai worse!

If you want to talk about when the rot set in and it became less about fighting than it did about super moves and fireballs then it started with the Piccolo Jr. saga. However I enjoyed the first two sagas of DBZ and think it should have ended with the death of Frieza. After that it just seemed to be a complete rehash of the sagas that came before it (Bad guy beats up lesser characters, Goku beats up bad guy, bad guy transforms and beats up Goku, Goku digs deep and gains a new level of power, repeat ad nausum until villain is defeated). Though I have to say that I found the ending of GT a really emotional and fitting send off for Goku as he ascends and says goodbye to his friends.

I'd say that it went downhill by the end of the Frieza saga.

I fucking hate Goku as a super saiyan. He is just a pompous asshole who becomes completely unlikeable because he's so damn overpowered. And he has to kill every bloody villain himself.

Broly? Caused by Kakarot. That film was more about Vegeta than anything else, but no, it's only Goku who can defeat him. Second coming? Same thing.

Agreed. There were a lot of cringe inducing parts to GT, but the ending was perfect.

That said, while overall it wasn't particularly 'good' in the same way DB and DBZ were, I still found it very entertaining. And while he didn't write it, Akira Toryama condoned the series. So yeah.

As for DBZ, as said above, I liked it as a story about Gohan's coming of age. The Cell saga was awesome.

You guys got it all wrong. DBZ Abridged is the best Dragon Ball series.

I'm serious, by the way. All the best parts of DB with way, WAY less wasted time and it's pretty funny to boot.

Personally I loved the ending of GT, kinda liked the whole SSJ4 thing but I also love the fact Vegeta stood beside Goku as an equal and seemed... content with it? No one deserved power more than he because he worked harder than ANYONE EVER HAS and GT (Despite it being of artificial means) finally made him equal to Goku

yeah, it kind of annoyed me too Goku was always the "finisher". They should have given each character some love once in a while. Gohan did get his moment in the cell saga. In my opinion it should have been Vegeta ruining Cell and Ultimate Gohan ruining Buu (wasn't he stronger than SSJ3 goku?). But than again, i actually never liked Goku to begin with.
