I often hesitate to comment on what people are saying about my show/series. It's a funny spot to be in as I really want to be part of the conversation, but at the same time don't want to interfere with what's being discussed.

That said - I understand that by making a film like this there would be many people who didn't like it's style and choices. I would receive MANY "You are fail!" comments and have to basically eat a bunch of shit on a project I basically risked everything I had to do.

But what I get out of it for people it does reach and do give it a chance (and yes I do think it is a quality piece of work or I wouldn't have made it at all) is something that was worth every cent I poured into this. For those people who don't stop midway through episode one and decide the whole series sucks - the ones who wind up enjoying it - is the very reason I attempted something like this at all.

It can't be all bad as we have been featured by about 20 sites on the web and received many emails from people who the subject matter and story meant something to (no not just emo folks).

My only hope is - you actually sat down to judge for yourself with an open mind. If it still doesn't work for you. No hard feelings at all. Like I said - just happy you gave it some of your time.

Let me begin by saying that I watched every episode of this put out so far in a sitting. I am of two minds on it. I think it had some potential, and I think the animation and cinematography was quite good. The acting was a bit amateurish in places, but overall was decent.

It had emotion and was creating an interesting character portrait. However, it seemed to lose its way as it went along. With every passing episode it seemed a bit more aimless, and by the last episode I was truly furious that it had gone in the direction it did. (I wont give away the ending, although I very much want to to make my point)

It shows real potential in every respect, and the impact of it is very very real. The uncertainty surrounding everything brought it to the edge of art, but the last few episodes tore through that uncertainty leaving a rather boring and artless reality.

If the last 2 or 3 episodes had continued along the wavering path rather than going with one way over the other (again, you will see what I mean if you watch, and if you haven't then I don't wanna ruin it) I would definitely recommend it to anyone. IDK. Watch it, see if you like it. *shrug*

NOTE: I have to say, the whole feminism angle everyone seems to be bitching about was, correct me if I'm wrong, meant to lead into a character study. It isn't a propaganda film, its meant to show a portrait-in-character of an abused woman.

I have to admit, drawn by pain took the criticism a lot better than most people did. I haven't actually started watching the series yet (my current internet connection [stuck at my grandma's house] is far to slow to attempt watching anything in one sitting other than the four minutes, because it basically takes 3-5 times as long as the actual video to fully load, and I don't have the patience for anything online that's longer than that unless it's totally awesome [the last lecture, anyone?]), but the producer himself gets a lot of respect from me for that above post.

Honestly I just wanted to portray a hurt person who happens to be a woman. I think the feminist angle is people reading into it because she is a woman. Certainly not anything I intended at all. I will be very curious to see what you think of Episode 12 btw. Also I am open to any thoughts privately (as to not add spoilers) that you wish to share. Thx for the thoughts Ex :)

Thx man. It's not easy having people throw poo at ya after working your butt off. I just try and do my best to adress what is said without getting defensive if I can. Some people would like me to agree and say what I've done isn't worth anything - but if I felt that way - I'd never do anything at all. I made the best film I could and try and feel proud of it no matter what anyone says. At least I gave it my best ya know.

You should be proud of it. There's room for improvement of course but what you've actually produced is bloody amazing.

Maturity is clearly an infinite resource on these glorious forums T_T But I have to say, I watched it, I found it would be good for someone into that style of movie, but I didn't like it due to different tastes. I can understand some of the comments about the Action and the Acting, but people, we've been brainwashed by Hollywood and every decent Television show that all actors are BORN good, for an internet short which is aired about once a week I find the quality good, and we have to remember it's more difficult to film a Live-Action web-show then an animated one that we're used to around here. In web-toons you don't have to worry about the acting, you just have to worry about the VOICE acting, I appreciate that animation does take a while, but that's what makes Drawn by Pain more remarkable, being able to blend Animation and Live-Action, does it feel a bit jerky? Yes, but I'd like to see you guys do any better, as Uwe Bole once put it. Now I'm going to go strangle myself for realizing I sound like Uwe Bole when he defends his mediocre piles of bile which he calls "Movies". But yeah, good attempt and I think anyone who enjoys the style will lap it up.
