So yeah, maybe the majority here isn't anticipating this game, but for those that are (and are not Kickstareter Backers who got the news), "Dreamfall Chapters: Book One" gets a release date of just around the corner: October 21st. So mark it on your calendars. Here's a link to the Youtube video of the announcement video.

Yaaaay! I'm so pumped right now.

Normally with these sorts of episodic things I wait till the series is finished before buying them, as I prefer to play something from beginning to end in one playthrough when possible. But honestly, seeing as I'm already a backer for Dreamfall and will be getting all the chapters as they're released, that's probably not going to happen.

In any case I've been waiting around 8 years for a continuation to The Longest Journey series so it's a bit surreal to realize that I'll be playing it next month. Here's to hoping this new release lives up to the previous games and is successful! It would be heartbreaking if the devs weren't able to finish due to lack of money.

They decided to go to the original idea of episodic delivery for two things: to keep on schedule of release date (now only of book one instead of all the game) and to keep polishing the other chapeters, releasing them as they are done. I'm guessing 3 months between releases. Or at least I hope it has that pattern.

Lord I've been looking forward to this.

Zoe and April's fate, Kian's imprisonment, Roper Clack's triumphant return; there's a lot of ground I want to see covered. I just hope they can cover it all.

Seconded. It's been so long since they left things on one of the most tragic series of cliffhangers I can think of. Feels good to actually see a game like this get resolved.

Ooooh, cool! I was expecting to have to wait a while for this.

I haven't actually played the other Dreamfall games. They look very cool, but after being told that the most recent one ends on some bullshit cliffhanger, I decided I'd wait until the series was done. Looks like I don't have to wait quite as long as I thought..

Anyone know how many chapters there are, and how long they'll be to all come out?

About fricking time.

Dreamfall was the only game I've preordered in the last 12 years or so (also the only collector's edition I've ever bought). I hope they get the same voices back: those people really made tlj and dreamfall for me. Seeing the characters again, getting to explore the world. I remember the long wait for Dreamfall, and after the secret world mmo I kind of lost hope we'd ever see a return to Stark and Arcadia.

I won't get it on release day (had to spend my game money on new glasses), but I will eventually get it even if it ends up being terrible. It'll be interesting to see if they operate on valve time for their episodic releases.

The original game is called 'The Longest Journey' and is an old fashioned point & click adventure game. That one has a complete plot without any major cliffhangers. It's the sequel Dreamfall that has a cliffhanger ending, although even there the main plot is resolved, it's just something else also happens that leaves the ending pretty ambiguous.

Both are totally worth playing if you want to enjoy a good story.

Typical no games for ages then P4 Ultimax, Bayonetta 2 and now this in one go im kinda excited for this The Longest Journey was amazing one of the few point and click games I bothered to finish and possibly the only one I liked all the way through. Dreamfall was not quite as good imo but I still really enjoyed it.

Im a bit worried about the file size here I think it was about 19 Gig on GOG and there is no way I can download something so big 8 Gig is about the absolute maximum and then it locks up my internet for a day or so. Ill have to try and steal a friends internet for a bit cant miss these chapters.
