I normally don't go near a computer when I've been drinking, just looking at a screen in that state can make me feel sick. That said I've recently discovered that my aim is a lot less shaky in CSS after a couple of beers, but it deteriorates rapidly to the point where I'm useless.

But GH, few mates and alcohol always has to be a winner :D

I can't play FPS when I'm anything over mildly tipsy- but when I am completely trolleyed I am a freaking legend at Guitar Hero.
That's not even just drunk me going 'looooook I am awessooooome'... everyone marvels at it -.-

I have no idea about drinking and gaming, but "a friend of mine" says that marijuana mixes well with mindless games like Beautiful Katamari (sp?) or plundering dungeons for nothing more than loot and experience in Oblivion
Very true, especially if chilling with friends.
I like to have a drink of an evening and I usually game then so it really doesn't effect me.

Got pissed playing WindWaker and started shouting at Link on the screen telling him 'MOVE YOUR LITTLE ARSE! YOUR GETTING SMASHED BY PEOPLE!!' Then I woke up with a broken gamecube with the words - I fucking hate it all - Spelt terribly in tipex on it.

My flatmate has Singstar on his PS3. We also enjoy clubbing and often don't get to the club because of the pre-lash stretching for longer than we expect. I think that's all you need to know...

The wife and I drink and play CoD all the time. We've even found a few of our friends who drink as well. There have been a few times when our whole "Clan" is trashed and still somehow kicking ass. I've really never noticed that the drinking affects my ability to kill the other team. That could be the booze talking though.

My advice.... if you haven't started drinking while gaming... DON'T.

Because I think one of 2 things will happen:

1) It will make you sloppy, and stink at your games.

2) It will enhance your experience to the point where you enjoy games much more while drinking.

Unfortunately, I fall in #2. I can still enjoy games without drinking, but I am much better with shooters and pretty much any action game when drunk. Maybe it's because I don't over-think things. I can rock many a face on TF2 or QuakeLive when drunk.

I can say.... I tried playing multiplayer C&C3 while drunk, and that was a disaster..... so it turns out I suck with the more recent, complicated RTS games when I'm drunk, so at least that experience isn't totally tainted for me.

Now when it comes to being stoned.... I couldn't when I used to smoke. I couldn't concentrate to save my life.

I used to smoke weed most weekends and play xbox 360, watch movies and eat a buckload of junk with my brother or some friends. I rarely get high these days (don't have any problem with 'not smoking') but occasionaly I hook up with my brother and we do all sorts of weird shit... Like go shopping for grocery. Not too weird you might say, but try doing it blitzed out your ass :)

But I enjoy playing the most when I smoke weed. Back when I smoked a bit more than I ought to, some of my favorite moments where getting baked and play Oblivion (or any game really)! I get so drawn into the game that it's just the nicest way to 'escape'/put jobs and bills in the background and just play :)

Yeah guy. Right on the money with this one. If I have a beer or two handy, I find they make me better at skill-based games (online Gears 2, mostly). I think it's the same thing as above: you don't overthink and in my case I tend to attack more aggressively while still staying halfway competently. Get the drop on way more folks.

Rock Band, obviously, is tailor made for alcohol abusers. I'm sure everybody's seen the 2 am failboat that roars to life when everyone gets back from a bar, hammered, and tries to play Expert in a burst of overconfidence.

Stoned is poorboots for video games, I find. Sure, they're more FUN... but I'm not nearly as skilled, that's for sure. I suppose RPGs would be tailor made for marijuana, except the new ones all have horrendous anime-face voice acting that psychs me out; I would enjoy the inventory management and collection aspects of the game, but I can't endure the horror of Japanese children screeching about valour and whatnot.

Funny you should mention RPGs and weed...... When I used to smoke every day, the only game I could play and really enjoy while stoned was Morrowind. Something about fantasy RPGs and weed just enhances the experience. Nowadays, if I even think about Morrowind, I think of getting stoned.

I have a horrible habit now... whenever I'd get killed on say TF2 or Quake... I'd reach for my glass and take a sip... well it's so bad now that even if I don't have a drink on the table, I'll still reach for it automatically after getting killed.

You're lucky though, I wish a beer or two were enough for me, I usually have a rum & coke or two depending on how the night goes. Only at night though, I try not to be that much of an alcoholic. Doesn't help that I've been unemployed for over 6 months either.....

I used to drink alot whilst playing games. It always seems like a good idea, but after a certain amount of alcohol (or a certain amount of time has passed), the last thing you want to be doing is playing games. You just feel lousy and want to lay down. Therefore, drinking + alcohol = bad combination if you actually want to play the game.

Nowadays, I'm about as straight edge as you can get without actually being the label. Alcohol has no appeal to me and I dislike the feeling it instills in me when I drink enough to have it affect me. Guess I just peaked.

I find I race on Midnight Club LA better after knocking a couple Budweisers back, only Bud though, any other beer and I'm crashing off into every lamp post on the track o_O

Sometimes. I don't really give one about the effects it can have on me. There is something nice about chilling there, you shoot some guy and take a victory gulp of a cold, refreshing, be right back I'm off to the fridge!
