Drug Dealers

With the exception of one clearly unbalanced girl (dealing didn't help, but her problems were clearly significantly deeper and her main problem-drug was alcohol, not anything she was selling), every drug dealer I've ever known has been normal, sane, intelligent, and friendly. And I don't mean used-car-salesman friendly - I mean friendly friendly.

It can obviously cause some big problems for people and there are certainly unethical people and unfortunate situations that essentially lead people to become dealers against their will, but it's not some inherently evil profession.

Drugs dealers are just..people.

I live in the Netherlands where a lot of drugs is legal, so there's the legal "coffee shops" (not alike starbucks, but just bars / cafe's / pubs where you can ALSO buy drugs, and the legal and more dedicated drugs "shops". In my town, there's one near the main street and it's pretty much a lounge and a counter.

I am not here to argue about drugs, weather there good, bad, or dont care. Should they become legal? Not the topic. How do you feel about Drug Dealers?

Most of the people I have bought drugs off have been good friends, some of them simply acquaintances, some of them people I couldn't stand (and thus, I stopped doing business with them.)

Dealers are one of those necessary things. There's a demand for drugs you can't get over the counter, they simply supply. Due to their illegality you get a lot of dodgy business practices such as underweight deals, the drugs being cut with other shit that doesn't need to be there and is potentially more harmful than the drug itself, but eh, when prohibition is the law of the day (meaning: the currently perceived morality of whatever subject is in question, the law is far from infallible,) that's par for the course.

Fundamentally, my opinion of dealers is that I don't really have much of an opinion on them, aside from them as a person and of their business practices; the fact that they deal in and of itself inspires very little, if any, existential contemplation in me.

Some are nice, some aren't. I hope this doesn't get me kicked out, but I've dealt drugs before, only to people I know and only class B. I'm not a dickhead.

I don't do it on a regular basis, my actual dealer though isn't profiting off of addiction, he's a nice guy. He once told me "I can get you anything you want, anything - but I won't."

He was basically saying (it was in context) he could get me heroin, cocaine etc, but he never would because he doesn't want me to because a drug addict (not that I'd ask for those things anyway). Now, he's a dealer that is saying he doesn't want his client addicted to drugs because it'd be bad for her, even if he'd profit.

So, not all dealers care about money and nothing else.... just putting it out there...

PS, drugs don't ruin everything they touch, just putting that out there too. I'm perfectly healthy and not addicted to anything. Just like a little high every now and again.

I only know one or two dealers, one is ok but can be a bit of a twat, but the other... the OTHER.

I pride myself on being generally positive in terms of accepting people, i think i'm quite good at seeing the best in others. But this guy? Jesus christ, this guy is real scum of the earth stuff. There are only 2 people so far who can make me angry just by being near me, and he's one of them. Not because he's a dealer, but because he's generally a prick.

So really, being a drug dealer doesn't neccessarily mean you're a bad person. Being a bad person makes you a bad person.

Don't like 'em. Not because of who they are I couldn't care less if you sold illegal drugs to people dumb enough to buy them but because of who they fund. Most dealers work in networks that ultimately end up funding some very nasty characters. Weed is probably the least likely to end up going to any of the big gangs or such but a lot of it still will.

So, as people? Much as I dislike most drugs and feel that their business tactics are pretty disgusting I have little grudge with them. It's who's behind them that fucks me off.

I've only met one drug dealer in my life, it was a friend of my cousin in Edinburgh. He only dealt drugs because he fucked up in school and didn't get any qualifications. He also only sells weed or at the most LSD or Ectasy but he says he doesn't sell to kids - I don't know if he does or not. The guy's quite fun to be with and a good laugh and like I said he's only dealing for the money and it's his own fault he's there.

Legalise all drugs and make it known that noone is going to fine you or put you in prison for being a 'druggy'.

Drug dealers, no matter what their motive, all in some way fund the black market drugs trade. This can then fund extremism, corruption, gangs and piracy.

If drugs were legalised and regulated without buisness intentions, not only would the number of drug users and associated crime decrease, but the money made off of the sale could be used to fund the healthcare or education systems. This recyling of money would actually in turn help to reduce the amount of drug use, increase understanding of drugs and improve their acceptamnce in society.

These ideas are not wild ideologies that i have conjured from thin air, the evidence can be found in portugal. After portugal legalised all drug use, overall drug use decreased at a rate never anticipated by anybody, especially the EU.

The idea of making money off of regulated drugs to help reduce drug related societal problems however is concept. I am not an expet in how governemnts and finances work but with the knowledge i do have, i don't see why a system such as this cannot be created.

Meh all the dealers Ive ever known have been enthusiasts who love the drug they peddle.
But probably the best advice when it comes to buying stuff like that is only buy from someone you know and trust or someone who has been vouched for by someone you know and trust.

Dependes, is the dealer an asshole?
Will s/he help you to a hospital is you overdose? Does s/he give you a free sample becus you seem unsure if you want spend money on it or to get you hooked and drain you of money? Stuff like that.

There are few people I dislike for any legal reason. Except bigots. I feel obligated to curbstom those fuckers.

Depends on the guy. I do actually know a chap who used to sell weed, quite a bit too but he wasn't in any way shape or form a bad person, as much as people portray, he was just making a living so he could feed himself, his dog and his family. He's now married and has kids and is perfectly fine, he's got out of jail and is a fine citizen.
So anyone who has to tell me that 'all drug dealers are terrible people' should meet this gentleman first.
