The only drug I've done was accidental. I was at a rave and a friend of mine handed me a drink. Apparently it ended up with liquid E in it and I don't remember to much about it honestly.

Otherwise, I've never tried anything. To me, it's not about health reasons; it's about money. I could smoke a pack a day...or I could spend that money on a new game. Not really a hard choice there for me.

I am pretty open to drugs already frequent user of Marjuana because I just like it. Probably going to do shrooms later this year.

But anyways back on topic the 50s were freaking hilarious qua adds. They said that smoking cigarettes would PREVENT cancer and that smoking weed would kill you or make you go insane. Basicly anything said by commercails during that time were complete bollocks.

What? Where are you getting your information from? And what are you referring to specifically? I've never heard of a drug causing alzheimers, well except that one really weird opioid analog, and that one was the reason for the DEAs emergency scheduling powers.

The closest I've come to alzheimer's and illegal drugs was this:

I started smoking weed when I was about 16 because my best friend suggested it and it sounded like fun. I tried it and it was pretty fun. I've smoked it pretty frequently for the past three years (one a week). The reason I continue is because almost all of my friends are the 'Stoner' type of people. Whenever we get together we smoke pot and listen to music and play video games and always have a good time.

I don't see any reason to stop smoking pot. Almost every medical study ever done has proven that regular weed smoking does not effect motivation or memory or your health. It is virtually impossible to overdose on pot, you need to consume nearly 40,000 times the amount of THC required to become intoxicated. So if 3 bong hits gets you stoned, 120,000 hits will be needed to kill you, which would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars and is impossible to smoke in a short enough time span. There have been zero reported weed overdoses in America. So weed is non-fatal and has no proven long term effects.

As far as the law is concerned. I live in Canada where weed is illegal but I have many friends who have been pulled over with at least 5 grams of weed on them and have only had it confiscated. Most arrests are at the officers discretion and as long as your polite and are not carrying enough to be a dealer, you should be fine. For the most part, when we smoke we do it at someone's home or in a private place, so even if someone calls the cops they would need a warrant to search the residence. When I smoke I never really worry about the cops but when I was younger and less comfortable with the drug I would often be paranoid of police.

People believe that marijuana leads to poor school performance or lack of motivation. I have been smoking weed since grade 10 and my grades have actually gone up from 65's to 80's in academic sciences and maths. Now I'm not naïve enough to believe that I do well because I smoke pot, I do well because of lots of hard work and studying, but pot has certainly not hurt my grades or my motivation.

Pot does not cause physical addiction, but anyone can get addicted to anything, especially if they have addictive personalities. It is not healthy to smoke weed in order to escape your problems but it can be a relief to people with a lot of stress in their lives. I know that when I have a lot of school work to over the weekend, it can be relaxing to smoke weed on the Friday to have a chance to relax and forget your problems. Some of my friends always smoke something called 'poppers', which is a mixture of weed and cigarettes smoked out of a bong, they are addicted to 'poppers' because of the chemicals in the cigarettes, not the weed. I never smoke anything other than strait pot. I also never smoked cigarettes because they are a proven health risk and I don't like the taste.

Finally, smoking weed is fucking fun. It makes everything you do more enjoyable, like video games, music, eating, or just talking with friends. Just observe a group of stoned people and listen to the crazy conversations and the hysterical laughter they produce. Laughing is good for your health and its a great way to bond with people. Unlike alcohol with makes you uncontrollable and sometimes violent, weed make you calm, and friendly; you also have complete control when your stoned and would not do anything you wouldn't do sober (except put peanut butter on Eggo waffles :p). Also I would never try any other drug, because many of them do have harmful side effects. I don't care if someone smokes weed or not, but don't rag on it if you haven't tried it.

PS. to all you people who say you only tried weed once and didn't like it, you usually don't get stoned the first few times, so maybe try it more than once, you might come to like it.

TL;DR: weed is good.

I actually don't think that it's less harmful than alcohol. There are a lot of reasons for this (I actually think that Marijuana is responsible for 3 times the number of deaths and violent incidents than alcohol... and I got my stuff from a reliable, scientific journal, not some faux-science internet source), but those things are irrelevant. The point is that marijuana is bad for you to AT LEAST some degree, and people seem reluctant to even consider that. Maybe the tactics and propaganda should be more overstated and more negative so people can get the picture.
Ok its a freaky feeling arguing something from this side of the divide.

Statistics are not scientific- no measure of anything gained statistically can be trusted in the same way other data can, its incredibly easy for the investigator to skew the results to fit the hypothesis, at most its a pseudoscience/prescience in a similar vein to psychology.

(a pertinent quote- "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics." Sir Charles Dilke)

Also I never stated that it isnt harmful- Ive first hand knowledge of the effects it can have on some people, much like alcohol does (and spare time allowing I could find the data to back it up). I myself have been negatively effected by half a decade of steady use- where once there was roaring ambition there is now contentment and apathy.

And further more no the propaganda should not be more explicit- inform people and give them their choices, dont try and manipulate them through shock tactics especially when the juries still out- to put it frankly thats a dick move.

Also, a completely subjective and unscientific point but have you ever seen someone whos stoned? I know a large number of stoners and every single one reacts similarly to weed- relaxed and giggly, I have never seen anyone get violent or aggressive- but of course such conclusions based on a small sample size are meaningless.
But then again if some people do get aggressive on it then why are they smoking it in 1st place?

I don't know where a LOT of people get their information, but there are a lot of doctors that are certain Marijuana causes mental degradation if "overused." My current source of note is the Wall Street Journal.

I started doing lighter drugs, such as cannabis and tobacco, roughly a year or two ago, becuase I use to be very stressed and needed a way to relax. I stopped smoking cigarettes roughly six months ago as my girlfriend wanted me to stop, but I continued to smoke weed, to which she doesn't object to.

I also tried Shrooms once, and I don't recommend it...

Salvia is good, though, I'm getting an ounce of it shipped to my house soon (it's legal).

This reminds of something I told my friend, after we watched Refer Madness.

Something along the lines of "I've seen a pothead tear a person up!.... Well it wasn't a person, more of a bag of Cheeto's..."

.... It's funnier when you're high.

As for why I started, smoking pot, (that's what this thread's about right?), I started because it's fun.

Simple as that.

Hmmm... this makes me curios, I'd like to read the study, care to link the article?

I pretty much destroyed the room I stayed in after I took them.

I recall very, very little of what actually happened on my trip, but I know for a fact that I talked with a plant for forty five minutes, felt noise on my skin (which felt like it was actually going to rip my flesh off), and fell asleep in a pile of underwear I turned inside out, none of which are things I want to experience again.

Yet again, I just had a bad experience, most people I know who tried them seemed to enjoy their results.

This.

First off, a message to all who generalize that ever illegal narcotic user is just a lazy piece of shit who wastes all their money on drugs - piss off and stop being a closed-minded sheep who gulps down every propaganda video the schools force you to watch. FYI, prior to the mid-1930's, there was no such thing as an 'illegal narcotic;' something to keep im mind.

That said... I was always a curious youth (who, to this day, has a major problem with other people attempting to force me to bow to their will), well-read and intelligent - in fact, my intellectual curiosity is what led me to first try drugs; it's also what helped me not die or get burned out from the act. Seriously, I've tried everything short of crack, intravenous drugs, and pharmaceuticals (speaking of which... I know you kids today have been led to believe that pharmaceuticals are somehow less harmful than "street drugs" - that is nothing more than B.S. propaganda intended to serve the purpose of fattening the wallets of Big Pharma execs. Something to remember during the next "Phizer presents: Drug Free Week" at your school). Granted, I haven't touched anything harder than some dank-ass pot in years, but I still remember the experiences, and figured I could impart some knowledge, in the hopes of educating some people who obviously posses serious misconceptions regarding narcotics. I considered listing out a number of narcotics and my experiences with them, but thougt better as that may overstep the purpose of this thread; if anyone wants details, feel free to PM me; I would much rather you get your info from someone who's been there, as opposed to the bullshit pamphlets they pass out to young people.

In summation, the generalization "drugs r bad" is, like most generalizations, false, as morality is a subjective concept and thus based solely on the opinion of the subject. Contrary to what is taught, one can quite easily be a "drug user" and still make a valid contribution to society; the key is, as in all things, moderation.

Only drug im using (if you can even call it that) are cigarettes ,i started because its a good excuse to get a 5 minute brake from work and i actually liked it ,nicotine also helps me calm down when im mad. Tried weed a couple of times ,but only to see what all the fuss was about ,it costs a lot ,hard to get and you can get arrested for having it so i decided that its not for me.

Hallucinogens are my drug of choice (mushrooms, mescaline), I always found them intriguing. Hallucinogens changes the way you percieve the world in ways that are so different that they can hardly be explained - is is really so hard to see the appeal in that?

I've been experimenting for a few years, tried a couple of different kinds and had more than a dozen trips of different intensity. It feels a bit wrong recommending drugs, but I see no negative effects with hallucinogenic drugs whatsoever. It's not addictive, it's not dangerous (unless you are predisposed to mental conditions), and it's a priceless experience that have profoundly enriched my life. How is it bad? I wish people would stop grouping all drugs together, not every illegal substance is heroin.

Pot is less harmful than cigarettes or alchohol and is not an addictive drug. The whole war on drugs thing starts with Nixon which straight away, should send alarm bells ringing.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Commission_on_Marihuana_and_Drug_Abuse

Anyway, drugs should all be legal since everyone should have the right to do what they want with their own bodies. The government can then regulate it, tax it and get money and because criminals will no longer be able to make money selling it, it takes money away from them. No more drug wars among gangs which would certainly help out Mexico.
The War on Personal Freedom (aka War on Drugs) actually started with a man named Henry J. Anslinger, America's 1st "drug czar," wa back in the early 1930's. If you're truly interested in the history of drug laws (specifically in America, althoug other nations have modeled their drug policies after America's), I recommend checking out the documentary "Grass," narrated by none other than Woody Harallson (sp?).
