Dub or Sub? + Overall Foreign movie-stuff

OT: Always subbed. I like watching movies in their original language. Most dubs make the movie seem cheesy, and rarely portray the emotions of the original language.
Definitely subbed. Dubs rarely capture the emotion of a scene. A sad scene ends up sounding flat. Not to mention the lack of sync between the mouth movements and the words really twig me.

English and American films- just the original, no subs, no dubs.

The german film-industry does a quite great jub dubbing, most of the time (series are often a problem, the bigger the studio and the expected audience, the greater the translation and the actors, obviously they didnt think that big bang theory could be sucessfull at all, the dub is terrible and so sadly only very few people enjoy it, that haven't found it pre-dubbed). And subs are very often crippled cut down versions of the script, not giving you the whole text because it just wouldnt fit the screen or can't be read that fast by most people. So don't think a sub gives you the complete dialogue.

a good dub is well translated to be lib sync. Its perfectly possible if the studio invests some money in more than a google translation and some waitress that says she had acting classes.SomeLameStuff said:

Well for Films I'll watch them subbed and for the very little anime films that I watch I'll usually watch them dubbed. For example Myiazaki films usually have amazing dubs.
As for your second question about foriegn films I tend to watch a large number of foriegn films from different regions. My take on them is that they are simmilar to hollywood films. There are a large number of good films and a large number of bad ones.
Korean Cinema- I think the Korean film industry is doing amazing things right now and with the exception of that terrible Symmpathy for Lady Vengence film I have practically loved everything out of Korea.
Chinese Cinema- Chinese Cinema is almost right up there with Korea with the inventive cinematography they are using its always atleast a pretty film that's made.
Japanese Cinema- I know this is probably going to be an unpopular opinion but I think with a very few exceptions Japanese Cinema is pretty weak. I like the stuff Takeshi Miike is doing but other then that I am just not a big fan.
British Cinema - With the British film industry so cloesly linked to the American industry its really difficult to tell the difference between some British films and their American counterparts. What I do enjoy a lot is there TV shows.
French Cinema- I think French films are pretty not well done either maybe i'm just a pussy but I get tired of all the sex they put into there films and that makes them hard to really get into the stories because it automatically pulls me out of the movie.

Ever watch a Dubbed Godzilla movie? That's what convinced me to watch live-action movies subbed.
Anime is a different matter. I usually watch dubs as far as I can, then watch the rest of the series subbed, because I don't feel like waiting for the episodes to be dubbed. If the dub is REALLY bad, I just go right to subs. But I'd rather watch a decent dub than a good sub.
