Duck news! DuckTales is coming back to TV in 2017, and is set to air on Disney XD.

As a mid-nineties kid, DuckTales was the holy grail. I loved Donald Duck, and the Donald Duck magazine was INCREDIBLY popular in Sweden when I grew up. Mom bought every single issue, and my collection ended up in some dump back in 2009. No cartoon in the world will get close to what DuckTales was, and this news is pretty awesome to me. I know more Duckburg related trivia than the average person, proudly.

How do you guys feel? Yay or nay for new DuckTales?

Now we just need to bring back Darkwing...

This could be good. There's a good 70 years of comics to pull inspiration from, so I'm not as worried about it as I am most of the reboots we see these days. It's less like coming out with a completely new version of, say, Star Trek, more like a new Batman cartoon. Less a true reboot in the original medium, more a new adaptation of the source material.

Well I remember duck tails as a cartoon as a kid, but never saw the comics.... Still I always watched it when it was on. It took place in a fun fantasy place, with fun characters. I'm all for this reboot.

Woo-ooo.

Eh, someone was going to say it. Personally I'm a bit wary of new versions of much older stuff, though, have to wait and see.

I'm crossing my fingers that it can live up to the original, that one was a childhood staple for me!

So, who else started humming the theme song when they read this?

Nay.

Furthermore, please do not get hyped. Seriously, just don't.

The entertainment industry as a whole is far too irresponsible to handle this right now.

I caught a few episodes on TV when I was younger and that's that. Though I did read the local Donald Duck magazine (Aku Ankka) every week and bought the monthly pocket books AND the hardcover special editions. That said, I feel like I'm way too spoiled by the top quality comics I read to enjoy the reboot and it's inevitable deviation from the source material. Damn you Don Rosa. Damn you and your magnificent, Watchmen-level comics and the Citizen Kane -like Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck...

It's Disney, and really no matter what anyone says... This is the kind of thing they never get wrong.

Are reboots, remakes, and rewanks generally bad? Yeah, mostly.

Can Disney resurrect an old series and make it good? Hell yeah!

Some fans will never be pleased, but this is the sort of thing Disney rarely fails at, as it stands it's good. New audiences, mostly kid, will eat this up, Disney will make money, and long time fans will get new stories in their favourite series... Not to mention that those of us who just have a tiny bit of nostalgia for Duck Tails will get something new and interesting to watch. You know rather than reruns of the Amazing Spiderman, Mighty Med, and such things that usually grace Disney XD.

To hammer the point home. This is the sort of thing Disney never ever messes up. It's not a bad thing. It probably won't be amazing, but it'll be new, and probably good.

They did touch upon Scrooge's years in the Yukon in the old show and kind of fucked up spectacularly. That comic volume is best left alone in its dramatically underrated grace.

Hard to say at this point. The reboot can be go anywhere for DuckTales so I suppose I can only form an opinion once I actually see some preview of it which will be years away.

Going to call it here and now:

The DuckTales of old will be miles ahead of the new DuckTales. It's going to be a classic case of "shinier but horribly written/cash in on nostalgia".

Not going to hold my breath on this one, even if it is Disney.

Honestly, 2015 is still fresh so I kind of don't give a shit what's going to be on TV in 2017. I don't know why anyone else would be excited now either.

About 2 years ago a buddy of mine bought the complete DVD collections of Duck Tales and Darkwing Duck. We spent 2 weekends marathoning all of it. Those were a good 2 weeks.

Be honest, everyone now has the theme song stuck in their head.

If you didn't, well, consider yourself lucky.
[sub][sub]I am incredibly indifferent to the news. :p[/sub][/sub]
