Taken from the MTG website:

If you purchase Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012 when it comes out if eligible, you'll get an in-game code for a voucher you can redeem for a physical promo card.
We European users are going to get screwed aren't we? :(

I passed on the old one because of the weak deck customization. I'll be paying attention to this one, though....

Yay my Grave Titan from the core set shall become common :D

Hopefully the decks will be better balanced this time round rather than just having ears of elves and the vampire deck.
No, it'll just not be worth much. The Praetors from NPH aren't all worth that much (except for Jin-Gitaxias)

I'm wondering if this will have M12 in it, so we can get a preview before pre-release.

I dunno, I'm from aus and I got the promo garruk last time just fine.

Although it took ages for delivery.

Im tempted to buy 12 copies of the game so I can get a playset of each titan. Might be a bit expensive though.

12 x $15 = $180...

Yeah... maybe not.

The release date has been known for months as Wizards spoiled the promos you can get for pre-ordering per platform, plus the fact it comes out before the set.

This game looks amazing, and my jaw dropped when I found out about the free promo cards that come with it. I'm actually going to buy copies of this game for my friends so they can give me their promo codes to get the shiny Frost Titan and Grave Titan (I don't want the Inferno, his alternate art sucks).

"Yes, custom deck creation will be an option."

So, there you have it.

Ah ha, now I'm interested! I had never really played Magic before Duels of the Plainswalkers, but even I felt leaving out custom deck building made the game too shallow.

Don't get too excited. I am pretty sure they think custom deck creation was in the first one too, in the form of being able to "Customize" your pre-"Created" deck with cards you unlocked, or not. Maybe if we're lucky that means we will be able to remove some of the base cards, or actually be able to choose our own land, but making a deck from a pool of cards and from scratch won't be happening.

They don't want to take business away from their REAL magic PC game: Magic Online. Where you pay a full 4$ for 15 virtual cards to make a deck from nothing.

Edit: Not to mention the steam description mentions that it comes with (only) 10 decks. I'll be buying it regardless since being able to play Magic whenever I want is AWESOME, but I'm hoping for actually online co-op this time, especially with Archenemy. A feature that was left out of the first and really had no business being left out (Unlike full deck-building).

I played the demo of this game and I was so very, very, very unimpressed, and so I looked it up online. Most of the reviews of this game said it was god awful and worse for anyone that didn't own a 360 since it came to the PS3 and PC about a year later along with less support. I'm suprised that there's even a community around this game anymore.

Any idea which community is more active for the current game, Steam or XBLA?

Nuts. Thanks for the heads up. I'll still keep an eye on it, I think.

Huh, interesting. I'd much rather play this than pay hundreds of dollars for the actual cards. I just hope it's good.

Several readers asked if custom deck creation would be an option in Duels of the Plainswalkers 2012. Since I couldn't answer that question, I sent it over to Wizards of the Coast along with an inquiry about how much the game would cost. Here are the answers: The game will cost $10 and Wizards said that "Yes, custom deck creation will be an option."
And this game just jumped two footed onto my "Get on Release" list

I tried out Duels of the Planeswalkers, didn't really care for it.

I prefer Magic Online, because it is akin to the physical card games and you can completely make up your own decks. In fact Magic Online is pretty much the digital form of the actual card game.

Right now I am having some fun playing with a Near Death Experience deck, which requires you to almost die in order to win.

I just find Duels of the Planeswalkers to be too restricing and limiting deck and card wise.

Quietly looking forward to this one, the best part of the original was playing co-op off-line. Planning strategy, tactics and using each others decks to complement the other. Very fun.

Grave Titan is around $13
Frost Titan is around $4-$5
Inferno Titan is around $13

That's around $160. Still cheaper if you bought 12 of the game.

Let me get off on a tangent here...

There's a "Planeswalker vs. Planeswalker" duel decks that I've read about that contains a Jace ($100 card). Will a Jace there fetch for the same price (the deck itself costs $20)?

Thats Jace Beleren, not Jace the Mind Sculpter, it's, no where near worth $100.
