I was working my first job in the IT industry, repairing computers at a little tech shop. I was still playing lots of Mechwarrior 2, TIE Fighter and Wing Commander 3, even though these games were a year or two old by this point. I had just voted in my second (Australian) federal election the year before and I'd had a driver's license for four years already.

...

Man, I feel old.

In a state of unawareness of the world and all within and without. A state of mindlessness; sentient yet not sapient. More beast than man. A creature oblivious to the sheer vastness and wonder of the cosmos.

I was 2.

I was in elementary school. I don't think I even had a game console then. But I did play computer games a lot, and I might have downloaded the demo of Duke Nukem 3D at by then.

I was three and a half and still living in Chicago.

Apparently I was older then than half the people who've posted in this thread are now. Beats me what I would've been doing, but it sadly probably didn't involve Duke3D anymore at that point.

I was five, and was busy having my childhood forever tainted and disturbed by Achenar.

Seriously, I want to meet the guy who played Achenar, shake his hand, and punch him in the face.

I was 10 years old and often watched my brother played Duke Nukem 3D. He owned all the consoles in the family.

Now I'm a qualified High School English/Histry/Drama teacher doing further studies in Stage Management and Technical Production for Live theatre. I have a PS3, Wii and Laptop, and I now review computer games that are based on books/comics and other forms of literature.

I was in my 20s. It would be another few months before I bought my PS1, so the only games I'd have been playing were Wolfenstein 3D and Prince of Persia. I didn't have a very good PC back then.

I was 3 years old, probably playing Banjo Kazooie, beating the level for the umteenth time with little to no knowledge that Duke Nukem even existed.

I was 3-years-old I was most likely playing point and click games on my families old PC. I didn't have a clue what video games were back then.

I got an N64 for Christmas and I wanted a shooter. My mom had heard all this shit on the news about "violent video games corrupting youth" so she wouldn't let me get Goldeneye because it was mentioned in the report. I asked if I could get Duke Nukem instead because it was the other big shooter at the time, she said yes, and I knew that stuff was 10x worse, so I rented both games. After 20 minutes of gameplay, mom let me buy Goldeneye.

I read about Duke Nukem Forever in Nintendo Power magazine, and I knew I'd never get it, but it looked really fun, then this happened...my entire experience with Duke Nukem was a week of play plus some at friends' houses, so I never got too excited over it. What got me excited was that a game that's been delayed this long finally fucking came out, which is an industry miracle.

I was 5 at the time, and what amazes me is the fact I knew how to load up Duke Nukem 3D on a DOS system. Then again being 5 I simply had my brother show me so my understanding only went as far as type this, then this and now some magic happens and it runs! Yay!
