I was 14, addicted to Red Alert 1, going through puberty hell, fighting against acne and about a million insecurities. Looking forward to a new Duke Nukem was a little light in my nerdy existence, and now I'll finally be able to play it!

I was working my first job in the IT industry, repairing computers at a little tech shop. I was still playing lots of Mechwarrior 2, TIE Fighter and Wing Commander 3, even though these games were a year or two old by this point. I had just voted in my second (Australian) federal election the year before and I'd had a driver's license for four years already.

...

Man, I feel old.
Tell me about it,

I was on the dole in Warrnambool having moved there with my girlfriend after she got a job on the local paper. I was splitting my time between surfing, studying philosophy part-time, playing X-Com and avoiding getting a job at the local abattoir. I was unaware of the announcement of a Duke Nukem game. I wasn't playing Mechwarrior 2 yet because I didn't buy it until after Mercenaries came out and they packaged it together with Ghost Bear's Legacy. I was aware of MW2 though.

I was three years old, playing with the other kids in the kindergarden. Probably lost a tooth or three that year.

No kidding. Since my previous post, I've remembered what I was doing then. That was a few weeks before I started writing device drivers for DARPA. On NT4. Heh. And I had a whole lab full of crazy computer hardware because there wasn't an empty office to stick me in, with stuff like a 42" plasma TV that I used as a monitor for a week (before they were available to the general public and still had at least five digit prices; I have no idea how/why I ended up with the demo unit they sent us), and a couple badass projectors that ran at an amazing 800x600 each, and a bunch of random SGI boxes. Also spending way too much time on IRC and running a MUD.

I was almost 7 years old (Me birthday is in August.), I had just barely been granted access to games like "Doom" and Duke Nukem, so I was in an FPS trance and had I been reading gaming magazines and heard about DN:F I probably would've been hooked immediately.

I was eight years old... That's really all I remember... I blame Pokémon Blue for that...

I was 3-years-old, weeping with joy that I'd soon be able kick some ass and chew bubblegum again.

Alas, it was not to be.

I was 3, almost 4, and my parents bought me Pokemon Gold for my Gameboy Advance...

Good times...

I'd play my first Duke game when I was 7...

Now I'm a qualified High School English/Histry/Drama teacher. I have a PS3, Wii and Laptop, and I now review computer games that are based on books/comics and other forms of literature.
This is what I hope my life will be in 5-10years. Hopefully a lecturer at the University Iam studying at, though. And some 'random-writing' as an extra passion, which I had since I was able to read and write stories.
I salute you.

Btw, check our names, they both have exia. We must be connected! Spooky!

OT:
I was 6 at the time. Too young to know about it. I was probably playing on my GameBoy; Super Mario. I remember 'turning' the bright/dark wheel when I was playing the game and batteries ran dry. Just so I could play a little longer. Oh, and the 'china-ish' level. I loved that song, I jump around the house with the volume at max. Good ol' days.
